Making Campus more like Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WMU chapter.

As college students, many of us have a lengthy to-do list to tackle in preparation for back-to-school, ranging from purchasing textbooks and parking stickers to creating and adjusting to a new schedule for the next semester. Some of us are moving into a new place, and an organized and welcoming home environment is a must, especially amidst the chaos of back-to-school.

Some items that may help the transition from the laid-back mindset of summer to the hustle and bustle of back-to-school week can  be found at your preferred local discount retailer (Target, Meijer, Walmart) and include things like college organizers, which can be used for storing various school supplies and personal items. A dry erase board is always handy for ensuring that no last-minute activities or supplies are forgotten either.

Once you have your place organized, sprucing it up by putting personal touches on your environment is never a bad idea. Stylish chairs in various prints, recycled paper vases, or a paisley storage ottoman, are all great additions for when the activities of the day are accomplished and it is time to kick up your feet and relax!

Once your place is organized and decorated to your liking, you will find yourself in an environment even more conducive to learning new material while studying; made possible through the process of creating a clean environment free of clutter. After all, a clutter-free environment allows for a clutter-free mind.
