I became a blogger/digital creator on Instagram in November 2021. I decided to make a blog because it has been a dream of mine to do it since I was a pre-teen. You might be wondering, “why didn’t you start it sooner?” And my answer is, I was scared and intimidated. When I started my freshman year of college, I thought of doing it but kept pushing the idea that it might not be fun, or it could be stressful and time consuming. In my head, I thought of the negatives of it, but in reality, it’s been fun to do!
While I have some posts, I try not to pressure myself so much when it comes to making posts/videos. Especially, with being in my last semester of college and being involved in clubs and organizations.
I have a small audience, but I plan to keep making more content in other outlets of media such as TikTok. I understand that growing an audience takes time, but I feel confident that it will grow because I know I’m not forcing myself to come up with content and they are things I genuinely enjoy filming.
An upside towards doing this is that it’s a hobby of mine where I started teaching myself how to edit videos, make posts and be confident with myself. It’s helped me grow, realize the small accomplishments, and be happy towards how people like the videos I make. Most of what I post are about fashion, a day in my life as an undergrad student, and mini vlogs. I do have people that inspire me they are Emily (@emilylaukim) • Instagram photos and videos and Linda | Makeup♡Petite Fashion (@linda.yang_) • Instagram photos and videos
They are both digital creators who are involved in making content about fashion/makeup and lifestyle and they both inspire me to be confident with myself and accept myself for who I am. There is still a lot for me to learn as a digital creator, but I know that it’ll be worth it.
If you ever want to start a blog on Instagram, Youtube, Tiktok, and other outlets of media, you should go for it! Of course, you’ll feel intimidated or maybe compare yourself but don’t because the digital creators/youtubers/tiktokers also started from a small audience to a big one and it took them time. It’s like a sunflower seed, you’ll have to nourish it and take care of it and before you know it, it’ll be a beautiful sunflower.
