Now what??
Being in a relationship is a lot of work and sometimes they end. When they do end, it may start to affect how people view themselves. They start questioning their worth and starting nitpicking any at “imperfections’ to justify why the relationship ended. This behavior is normal but if not controlled can turn into self-hatred, loneliness and even depression. These are tips on ways to help pick yourself back up after a relationship ends.

Â
1. Feel the Emotions
It hurts to not be with someone that made you happy and it is normal. Let yourself cry and feel sad and hurt. It is okay to take a day or two to listen to some Adele and Sam Smith and eat some junk food and LET IT ALL OUT. However, let this be ONLY BE A DAY OR TWO.
Â
2. Evaluate Yourself
Everything that happens in life is a lesson; find out what this lesson is. This is an opportunity for you to grow stronger as an individual and be independent. This is the time to learn about yourself and use all the love you gave to another for yourself.
Â
3. Do Not Blame Yourself
People grow apart and sometimes are not ready to commit, especially if they are young. It is clichĂ© to say, but sometimes it really isn’t you.
Â
4. Keep it Moving
Keep yourself busy to keep your mind away from your ex. Try new hobbies you always wanted to do, hang out with friends and family, or join a club/organization on campus.
Â
5. Take Your Time
People heal differently so it is okay if it takes you a little longer not to miss them. Sometimes your ex will pop in and out of your mind… it is common. Your past relationships do not just disappear, they make you a better person. When the time is right, you will be prepared for the right person in your life.Â
