Lainie’s Study Abroad: A Semester in London

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WPUNJ chapter.

Many people only dream of traveling or living abroad during their lifetime but may never get the chance to! Thanks to the amazing study abroad programs offered here at WPUNJ and many schools around the world, it has become as easy. Just pick a location, choose the program, and pay the tuition to study abroad anywhere in the world at this young and fearless age! If you are worried about the cost, there are plenty of financial aid options to choose from.  It can be expensive, but it is well worth it in the end! The cultures of the world are much more accessible than you think!

Thanks to Cisabroad, a local study abroad program offered at WPUNJ, I have been studying in the exciting city of London, England. Ever since I arrived here about a month ago, it has been nothing short of exhilarating! Besides the occasional homesickness, every day feels like a new adventure! Even in the short amount of time I’ve been here I have already become more independent, self-sufficient, open-minded, and appreciative of all that life has to offer. I have met so many friendly, kind, and interesting people — not just from England but from all over the world, and I am looking forward to meeting many more.  I have explored London thoroughly, shopped at its unique markets and stores, taken pictures with its famous landmarks and enjoyed its delicious blend of European and Asian food! I can definitely say this experience will change me completely for the better!

Being on the other side of the world has plenty of other advantages as well. It is extremely easy and inexpensive to travel to nearby cities. I have already planned two trips with a few girls I have met here that are also from the States. We are planning to go Santorini, Greece and Amsterdam in the Netherlands! There are plenty of other beautiful cities to visit — one that suits and interests each traveler! And with each city comes new foods to try, a new culture to learn about, and new people to meet!
