The Originals was a hit spin-off series of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ on the CW network. The story follows Niklaus ‘Klaus’ Mikaelson and his family living in New Orleans, Louisiana, a city they once built and was a home where they felt like they belonged. He and werewolf turned hybrid Hayley Marshall are expecting a child together and navigating the city’s supernatural situations with witches, vampires, and werewolves.

I’m almost done watching season three and so far, the show is by far a great spin-off. Not only is Klaus Mikaelson one of the greatest villains from ‘The Vampire Diaries’, but an entertaining character to watch overall. We get to learn a lot more about his character, his family, and his reputation as one of the most intimidating supernatural creatures alive.

Season one follows Klaus and his family returning to New Orleans to rebuild their family as Hayley Marshall is expecting Klaus’s child who happens to be the first tribrid, a combination of witch, vampire, and werewolf. Season two follows the originals protecting Klaus and Hayley’s child Hope from Ant Dalia, who’s on the hunt for her and sees them learning about their long-lost older sister Freya who was held captive by Ant Dalia. Season three follows a group of vampires called The Strix attempting to break their origin bloodline from the originals and deal with new enemies.

There is not often a spin-off so successful amongst viewers and fans, with fan favorite characters who had exciting stories to tell. ‘The Originals’ also provided new and awesome characters like Marcel Gerard, Davina Claire, Camile O’Connell, Vincent Griffith, and many more which made them stand out.

The show aired on the CW between 2013 and 2018 for five seasons and you can stream the show on Netflix.
