Even if you’re not a TikTok user you have probably heard of the term “that girl”– the girl that has her life together, seems absolutely flawless and generally just has an aesthetic about her. The truth is that sometimes becoming “that girl” isn’t as easier or achievable as it looks.
Life isn’t as lenient as it is made to be, and I’m sure thousands and thousands of girls have days, weeks, months, or maybe even years where they just do not have their life together. There are so many days where I just want to treat myself and sometimes that means staying in pajamas all day, binge-watching series, and barely moving except to go to the bathroom or grab food, this is okay and should be normalized more. Sometimes life gets in the way, and you’re too physically or emotionally drained and you don’t feel like doing anything or even considering any form of exercise. Maybe some days you don’t feel like having to eat healthily and you just want to eat “junk” food the entire day! THIS IS TOTALLY OKAY!
I think that self-care comes in all different forms, it just depends on what you, your body, and your mind need. Too often social media portrays an inaccurate perception of people who have their entire life together and they seem as if they’re making it all happen, but lots of the time it just isn’t a true representation of people’s lives. Instead, it’s simply highlights of the best moments. Not everything that is posted on social media is real either, and so many people pretend to be happy or use editing apps like photoshop to make their photos look better.
I think the most important thing is for our society to remember is not to compare themselves to others (So much easier said than done) and just keep your interests and needs in mind. Do you for yourself and try not to feel bad about whatever it is you do! Becoming “that girl” is not as realistic or easy as it may be portrayed to be.
