10 Texts You Might Receive From Your Ex And The Best Responses

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

We have all been there, screen shotting the “What’s up?” text from your ex, sending it to the group message. What do I do? Answer? Ignore? Take like 3 hours to reply to keep him on his toes? HELP! Well ladies, there are just sometimes you have to bring out your inner willpower and not answer. This might be hard to do, but you will benefit in the long run. This will show how strong you really are and most importantly, deserve better.

1.     “You up?” – Sunday, 2:15 A.M.

Ladies, we all know why they want to know why you are up. Just act like you weren’t up, eat your leftover Chinese and call it a night.

2.     “Netflix and chill?” – Monday, 7:35 P.M.

Yes, I have actually been a witness of this god awful text message. Instead, actually watch Netflix with your roomies and save yourself from this breed of men.

3.     “Can I have a ride?” – Tuesday, 3:15 P.M.

Don’t be the girl that he can walk over. If he really likes you, he knows that favors will come with time.

4.     “Who’s your friend that was in the blue dress?” – Friday, 11:00 P.M.

Ignore him, brush it off, and realize that he wasn’t even that cute anyways.

5.     “Where u stayin tonight?” – Thursday, 5:04 P.M.

Yes, this might be an okay text at the start of a friendly relationship. After a couple of weeks, move on and find someone who will give you more respect.

6.     “Sorry I was sleeping” – Friday, 9:04 A.M.

This is the text that means to say “I ignored you” since you saw his best friend’s Snap Story of all of them watching the game together. If he can’t talk to you because of what his friends think, let him go.

7.     “I’ll do anything to make it up to you”

Blah blah blah. After the 20th time receiving this, take a step back and examine on how many times he made you more sad than happy.

8.     “She’s just a friend”

After you see him take this “friend” to a date party instead of you, he is just trying to play the field instead of taking it serious. Find someone else that will be worth your time!

9.     “I think we should just be friends”

Swallow your pride and remember that it is not your fault when something doesn’t work out. Sometimes it takes getting hurt to remember how valuable you truly are.

10.  “Heyyyyyy”

Why can’t it just be a normal whats up? I’m sure this one won’t be hard to ignore, but imagine how this conversation would be like.

I grew up in Charleston, West Virginia. Growing up here I knew there was a possibility of going to West Virginia University my entire life. Although I decided to start my college career at the University of Kentucky, those country roads led me back to WVU in the spring of my sophomore year. This was also the point when I decided to establish myself as a Broadcast Journalist student. Since this point I have strived to become the best possible journalist I can be. I am currently working as a weekend reporter for WDTV-Channel 5 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Prior to receiving this position, I worked as an intern with WCHS-tv/FOX11, in the summer of 2014, where I learned critical editing, interviewing, writing, and speaking skills. I worked closely with anchors, reporters, editors, directors, producers, and even the web team. Aside from the television industry, I am the Campus Correspondent for the West Virginia University Chapter of the online entertainment magazine, Her Campus. Another position I currently hold is the Social Media Chair of WVU’s Radio Television Digital News Association Chapter. In the Fall of 2012, I became a sister of the Alpha Phi Fraternity, in which I held the position of ‘Big Sister Chairman.’ My other passions include horse back riding, scuba diving, being outdoors, and running. I am very adventurous and I try to stay well rounded. My goal in life is to live life to the fullest and be the best possible version of myself. My ultimate goal would be to earn a spot as a reporter/anchor for Fox News, New York. I plan to graduate in December of 2016 and look forward to my future.
