Meet Molly Roloff: Member of Love Your Melon’s Chapter at WVU

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

Molly Roloff, a junior childhood development and family studies major at West Virginia University, opened up about her knowledge and experience with the Love Your Melon brand.

What is Love Your Melon?

“Love Your Melon is an apparel brand dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer in America, as well as supporting nonprofit organizations who lead the fight against pediatric cancer. Fifty percent of profit from the sales of all Love Your Melon products is given to Love Your Melon’s nonprofit partners in the fight against pediatric cancer,” Molly explained.

How did you hear about it and get involved?

“I heard about LYM when I joined Alpha Xi Delta my freshmen year. A sister in Xi was a member and I always loved seeing all of the amazing things she did through the organization. Also, I constantly saw students wearing LYM beanies on campus! One day I got an application in an email and decided to apply! I was ecstatic when I found out that I was chosen to be on the team! I started to get involved by attending meetings and learning more about LYM mission,” said Molly.

What made you want to join?

“I constantly saw people wearing the beanies and I had no idea what it was. When I googled love your melon I was blown away at what I found! Such an amazing organization! Additionally, with my major being childhood development, I am always looking for ways to better children’s lives.”

What do you do as a member?

“We raise awareness for childhood cancer, represent the brand, attend meetings and have fun events for children affected by childhood cancer such as having a party at the pokey dot for them!”

How has your involvement impacted you?

“My involvement has affected me in so many ways. It’s humbled me as a human being to always find the small things in life to smile about, such as a hat. Acts such as delivering beanies to children brighten their entire day and it’s so amazing to see. I plan on eventually being a childhood development counselor for young children and hope to help children through difficult situations. Love your melon has inspired me to always work to better the lives of others and to always stay positive.”

Do you plan to continue your involvement after graduation?

“I plan to always represent the LYM brand and continue to brighten children’s days in any way possible. I’ll be wearing a fluffy pom pom beanie forever!”
