Q:
What made you get involved with the National MS Society?

A:
I had my first on-set of relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis in 2010. Over the years and through the course of treatment, I realized that a lot of my friends didn’t really understand the disease. I wanted to bring awareness to WVU and help other students with friends and family suffering with MS understand it better. I also wanted to let the community know that this is a disease worth fighting for.

I contacted the National MS Society over Christmas Break to see what I could do to start a college chapter. The forwarded my information to the President of the Bluefield, W Va. chapter. She came to Morgantown for a few days to discuss options. Right now I am doing mass distribution of brochures for the MS Walk in Fairmont on April 22. I’m working to gather volunteers for community service to help with the mass distribution in Morgantown, Clarksburg and Fairmont.

I think that this will be a great stepping stone to bring MS awareness to the WVU campus.

Q:
What do you like best about your job with the MS Society?

A:
I love that I am doing something that is going to really help people. I think that by making everyone more aware of the disease, we can help get more people to advocate and raise money to hopefully find a cure one day.

Q:
What would you like people to know about the organization?

A: The MS Society is a wonderful non profit organization that helps increase awareness of MS. They work with hospitals to open MS clinic and provide amazing services to people who suffer with the disease.

Becca is a junior from Collegeville, Pennsylvania. She attends West Virginia University where she is pursing a major in Advertising and minors in Business and Communications. She is involved in the Martin-Hall Agency, which is the advertising club for the University. She is currently interning as an American Eagle Campus Representative for WVU, where she works with two other girls to promote the brand on campus. In her spare time, she loves to shop, read, play field hockey and, of course, eat. Living right outside of Philly her whole life, she can’t resist a good cheesesteak and an awesome Phillies game. She looks forward to graduating college and finding a job working at a large advertising firm in either Pittsburgh or back home in Philly.
