College does not last forever, although some of us like to think so. There comes a time when the ‘best four years of your life’ comes to an eye opening end. For all of you upcoming graduates say hello to senior year. While many, including myself, took for granted these past three years it’s time for the real growing up to come in to play. For starters, no more asking mom and dad for some extra spending cash, no more week long holiday breaks. In the real world we work all year long, sadly. Although the beginning to the end, so it may seem, is slowly approaching let’s take a step back and remember the amazing times we’ve all had so far.
College, the fantasy land where mixed drinks are sometimes 50 cents and it’s completely okay to go out on a Monday, Tuesday, well let’s face it any day of the week and not get judged. Where we sell our textbooks back for grocery money and somehow convinced ourselves that calzones are the best drunk night food. What’s the freshman 15, right? If we believe it didn’t happen, it didn’t. This fantasy land also allows for day long tailgates and for the us here at WVU a concert on the first day of classes.
Most of all college is the period of time where we found ourselves and became the person we always wanted to be. The nights we made way too many mistakes and the crazy nights that random stranger in the bathroom became your best friend (girls you’ll understand). Or even how a random roommate, if you’re lucky enough, becomes the best friend you could ever ask for. College, the four years of your life (sometimes five- super seniors this is for you too) that are completely unforgettable.
The ‘beginning of senior year’ are words no college student wants to here. Just the thought of it brings on the tears. The day we feared is just right around the corner. But don’t worry there is still one more year for day drinks, late night Jimmy John runs and plenty of nights for you to contemplate your major (let’s hope by now you have that figured out). So don’t go into a full panic yet! Just remember one thing under any circumstances do not, I repeat, do not take this year for granted. Get ready for the best year out of the ‘best four years of your life’.
