Top 5 Getaways for Spring Break 2016

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

Spring break is a week every college student needs to experience once in their life. While Panama City was the spot last year, it looks like there are plenty of other up and coming tropical places to spend the week with your best friends. I am going to share my top 5 picks for this up and coming Spring Break. Break out the planners, ladies!

1.     Cancun, Mexico

Take a little trip out of the country and enjoy the beautiful sun and sand of Cancun, Mexico. With the Oasis Resort being the top student location, you can get all-inclusive deals whole being treated like a queen. Past performers like Migos, Hardwell, Tiesto and more making the week one to never forget.

2.     College Spring Break Party Cruise

Imagine a week of tropical fun full of college students sailing down south. Sounds like a dream, right? This new style of spring break has students sailing from Florida to the Bahamas. With the awesome price, it is just one to not pass up!

3.     South Padre Island, Texas

Texas? Believe it or not, this tropical area is the scene of foam parties and Lil John performances. Right off the coat of Texas, this has been a low key spring break spot for years. Well, WVU is about to change that. Check out the good deals while getting your country on.

4.     Whistler Blackcomb

Not a fan of surf and sand? Check out this college ski resort in British Columbia, Canada. With live ranging concerts at night, drink specials, and hosting pro ski events, this is a place to keep in mind. Oh, did I mention the drinking age is 19?

5.     Disney World

Why not take a week to be a kid again? Disney is not only fun for kids, but college students as well. Downtown Disney, drinking around the world at Epcot, and live music are only a few assets to go to Orlando for your week getaway.

I grew up in Charleston, West Virginia. Growing up here I knew there was a possibility of going to West Virginia University my entire life. Although I decided to start my college career at the University of Kentucky, those country roads led me back to WVU in the spring of my sophomore year. This was also the point when I decided to establish myself as a Broadcast Journalist student. Since this point I have strived to become the best possible journalist I can be. I am currently working as a weekend reporter for WDTV-Channel 5 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Prior to receiving this position, I worked as an intern with WCHS-tv/FOX11, in the summer of 2014, where I learned critical editing, interviewing, writing, and speaking skills. I worked closely with anchors, reporters, editors, directors, producers, and even the web team. Aside from the television industry, I am the Campus Correspondent for the West Virginia University Chapter of the online entertainment magazine, Her Campus. Another position I currently hold is the Social Media Chair of WVU’s Radio Television Digital News Association Chapter. In the Fall of 2012, I became a sister of the Alpha Phi Fraternity, in which I held the position of ‘Big Sister Chairman.’ My other passions include horse back riding, scuba diving, being outdoors, and running. I am very adventurous and I try to stay well rounded. My goal in life is to live life to the fullest and be the best possible version of myself. My ultimate goal would be to earn a spot as a reporter/anchor for Fox News, New York. I plan to graduate in December of 2016 and look forward to my future.
