WVU Confessions: When Dates Go From Bad To What The Hell

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

Everyone hates the anticipation of a first date. Typically, they go really well, turn into relationships and the honeymoon stage begins *cue the love songs*. But for those of us that aren’t so lucky they turn into memories we wish we could erase from our minds. So this one is for us unlucky ones out there; just a glimpse at some of the worst/ funniest dates of WVU students. Hey, at least we can all enjoy the pain together.

“This one time this guy Todd took me to a movie and then to dinner and we ate outside at this one place with live music. The tables next to us were staring at me so I apologized for talking loudly, because I couldn’t hear myself think, and he just got real quiet and so I asked him what was wrong. He was like, “You just don’t seem to care that you’re loud and obnoxious”. Suffice it to say, that date ended quickly.”

– Elise, Senior

“Our first date he was too high to do anything but eat. We barely talked.”

– Lauren,  Senior

“One time I invited a girl to dinner and had planned to bring her to a party at my house after. When I picked her up she had her two friends with her and proceeded to tell me to buy them all food. She felt bad (no sh*t) so she said just go somewhere cheap. I went to McDonalds got them food and as soon as I finished paying she said they had an emergency. I dropped them off and she never came to my party. I truly got played.”

– Gregg,  Sophomore

“I wasn’t home, I was hanging out at my friends house and he showed up to my door step and was crying to my mom. She forced me to go with him to pick out his junior prom outfit and on our way back he hit an undercover cop car and we had to wait for 2 hours for everything to be over. In the end, he wasn’t even a good prom date; he ignored me the whole time and left me there.”

– Rae, Junior

“I went to meet a guy for dinner at a restaurant back home. As the night progressed his friends that were at the same restaurant ended up joining our table. The night ended being a bro hang out with just me sitting there.”

– Lauren L., Senior

“In high school my mom took me and this guy to a party and he ended up hooking up with someone else. Then my mom picked us both up at the end and took him home. Just a little awkward.”

– Jennifer,  Junior

“This guy I had been talking to told me he wanted to take me to one of his favorite restaurants. We ended up at taco bell, not what I pictured (and I hate,) so I sat there as he ate. He took me home and a couple days later I found out he had a girlfriend the whole time.”

– Cassidy, Junior

“So I was talking this boy and one day we decided to go to falling water. When we got there he kept telling me to change into flip-flops because my tennis shoes would get ruined but I didn’t listen and ended up slipping on this one rock and ate complete sh*t. He laughed at me and I kept telling him ‘let’s go home’ but instead he kept saying ‘come here, come here’. I told him that I didn’t want to make out with him since there were so many people around us and he insisted that that’s not what he wanted.  When I finally came closer he asked me to be his girlfriend and I had no choice but to say yes because we were in front of so many people and the hour and a half car ride would have been awkward otherwise. Needless to say two day later we broke up. One night after that he called me when I was away at school and I accidently called him another name. He flipped out and we haven’t talked since.”

Hi, everyone! I'm Chastity, a senior at WVU majoring in Strategic Communications with an empahasis in  Advertising. I am a lover of writing and fashion, a reality show junkie, and a tad celebrity obssessed. I love finding new inspirations on Tumblr whether it be fashion or lifetsyle. Follow me on Twitter and Instagram!
I grew up in Charleston, West Virginia. Growing up here I knew there was a possibility of going to West Virginia University my entire life. Although I decided to start my college career at the University of Kentucky, those country roads led me back to WVU in the spring of my sophomore year. This was also the point when I decided to establish myself as a Broadcast Journalist student. Since this point I have strived to become the best possible journalist I can be. I am currently working as a weekend reporter for WDTV-Channel 5 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Prior to receiving this position, I worked as an intern with WCHS-tv/FOX11, in the summer of 2014, where I learned critical editing, interviewing, writing, and speaking skills. I worked closely with anchors, reporters, editors, directors, producers, and even the web team. Aside from the television industry, I am the Campus Correspondent for the West Virginia University Chapter of the online entertainment magazine, Her Campus. Another position I currently hold is the Social Media Chair of WVU’s Radio Television Digital News Association Chapter. In the Fall of 2012, I became a sister of the Alpha Phi Fraternity, in which I held the position of ‘Big Sister Chairman.’ My other passions include horse back riding, scuba diving, being outdoors, and running. I am very adventurous and I try to stay well rounded. My goal in life is to live life to the fullest and be the best possible version of myself. My ultimate goal would be to earn a spot as a reporter/anchor for Fox News, New York. I plan to graduate in December of 2016 and look forward to my future.
