14 DIY Gifts for February 14

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVWC chapter.

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and with that, the pressure to give gifts. Whether you have a significant other or are celebrating Galentine’s Day this year, you’ll still be expected to give a gift that is cute and meaningful. Luckily, with a little creativity, you can create the perfect, from-the-heart gift your Valentine will be sure to love.

1. Give a bag of gummy bears with a note that reads “I love you BEAR-y much!” or “Life without you is unBEARable!”

2. For your lottery-loving Valentine, give a few scratch-off lottery tickets with a note that reads “I won the lottery when I fell in love with you!”

3. Bake a heart-shaped cake using a square and a circular pan! Keep the square cake whole and place in the shape of a diamond, then cut the circular cake in half and place along the top two sides to create the shape of a heart! Frost it, maybe add some decorations, and voila!

4. Take a deck of cards, punch holes in the side of each one, and attach them with a string. On the front write “52 Reasons Why I Love You,” then on each card, write a reason why you love your Valentine!

5. This one is cheesy and classic, but who doesn’t love a personalized coupon? These can be good for anything from a hug, to dinner on you. The possibilities are endless.

6. Fill a mason jar with little slips of paper with cute messages, such as reasons why you love them or fun memories. Your Valentine will love this meaningful gift!

7. If you are in a long-distance relationship, this is the perfect gift for you. Write several letters for your SO to read at different times. For example, it might read “Open when you miss me,” or “Open when you need a laugh.” These letters can be filled with anything you want, and will be the perfect gift that will be long-lasting. Plus, these will always leave him/her thinking about you, whether you live 10 or 1,000 miles away.

8. Google “EOS lip balm gift ideas” and the creative gifts you can give involving EOS lip balm are limitless. Create something fun and attach a note that says “You’re the BALM, Valentine!”

9.  Fill a jar with Hershey Kisses with a note that reads “Here are some kisses for when I’m not around!”

10. Using Scrabble tiles, spell out words or phrases about the person you’re gifting it to. For example, use words that describe the person, or a phrase like “I love you.” If you’re able to, make it even cuter by connecting the words like you would in a game of Scrabble! You can display your work of art in a picture frame or shadow box for them to display!

11. On the front of a mason jar, write “I love you to pieces” and fill it with Reese’s Pieces.

12. On a piece of cute scrapbook paper, write “I love you because” with a line underneath and put this paper into a picture frame. Using a dry erase marker, write on the line a reason you love this person. You can hang this up somewhere where they will always see it and change the reason from time to time to remind them why you love them!

13. Give your donut-lover a box of donuts with a note that reads “I DONUT know what I’d do without you!”

14. Last but not least, a Rice Krispies Treat Hershey Kiss! Mix together melted butter, marshmallow fluff, and Rice Krispies. Using a funnel, mold the Rice Krispies Treat mix to the shape of a Hershey Kiss. Wrap the treat with aluminum foil and write a sweet note on a strip of white paper to attach to the top!

Gifts don’t always have to cost an arm and a leg, and sometimes cheesy and crafty gifts are more exciting. As long as it is from the heart, your significant other will be sure to love it. Happy crafting, collegiette!
