The dynamic country duo, Maddie and Tae, visited WVWC Wednesday night to perform a free concert—and we were there to capture every note! Couldn’t make it? Here’s what you missed:
The Wardrobe
Pink everywhere! On top of people wearing pink for our HC pink-out, other styles we saw included the classic country plaid shirt, layered dresses, various kinds of boots and baseball hats. It was the typical country get-up.
The Opening Act
To begin the show and set the stage for Maddie and Tae, Jacob Davis and his band wooed us in with their dream guy, heartthrob lyrics. Not only did Davis make every girl in the audience swoon, but he even sang a cover to Billy Currington’s “We Are Tonight” (as if we could love him any more). The band even stayed during Maddie and Tae’s performance to meet with fans and take pictures afterwards!
What We’d All Been Waiting For

We came for a show, and Maddie and Tae didn’t disappoint. From the start, these ladies captivated us all with their sweet, southern charm and genuine personalities. They began with songs from their new album, Start Here, but weren’t afraid to cover popular songs like “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton, “Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake and “Umbrella” by Rihanna. At one point Maddie even exposed a former “mean girl” in her life and told the story on stage (Sierra, we’re looking at you!).
If you weren’t there to experience it for yourself, then you missed out on an awesome karaoke opportunity. To end the night (or so we thought), Maddie and Tae performed their first number one hit “Girl in a Country Song.” We couldn’t stop ourselves from scream-singing along!
Encore

“Encore! Encore! Encore!” Fans screamed the moment Maddie and Tae left stage. Moments later they returned, flattered that their audience wanted more. They couldn’t stay long, but they were thrilled to play two extra songs for us—and we were thrilled to hear them!
Finale Thoughts
“Bein’ the girl in a country song
How in the world did it go so wrong?
Like all we’re good for
Is looking good for you and your friends on the weekend
Nothing more.”
So ladies, take the lyrics of Maddie and Tae’s number 1 hit and live them. Don’t be defined by being “the girl in the country song!” After all, we are so much more than that.
