RLCG Charles,
I’m a first year student at Wesleyan, and I feel like I need to look more grown-up and womanlike now that I’m in college. I have seen that a lot of the girls on campus wear makeup and look really pretty… But I was that girl who didn’t wear makeup in high school. I didn’t dress up every day, and I didn’t try to impress anyone. Now that I’m in college, I want to turn over a new leaf and bring out my inner woman. How much makeup is too much?

Woman to be,
There are no limits as to how much makeup you can wear. You can wear as much as you’re comfortable with. With that said, though, there are also no limits as to how much beauty you surrender when you wear too much makeup. Cosmetics should be used for enhancing natural beauty, for showing what God has blessed you with… They shouldn’t be used to cover up completely.Â
God created you in his own image. That right there is a beautiful thing. If God wanted you to hide the face he gave you, he would have given you a bag to put over your head! But he didn’t. You came into this world without makeup, so that’s a good indication that you don’t need it to feel beautiful or womanly. Like I said before, it’s okay to wear it, but be sure to use it as a source of enhancement—one that will focus on your already naturally-beautiful features, not distract from them.Â
Realize this: if you don’t let the world see your inner beauty, which shines through you and makes your outward appearance just as beautiful, the likelihood of anyone seeing your true beauty is very slim.
