Well, collegiette, it’s that time of the year again. Finals are underway, and in a few short days we’ll all be hugging and crying with our new best friends promising to keep in touch until August. Even though this time of year is upsetting and stressful, your skin doesn’t have to suffer. I’ve come up with a bunch of tips and tricks to keep your skin healthy and stress/acne-free from now until summertime, and even transitioning into the fall to come back to campus.
One thing that I particularly don’t enjoy when it gets hot and humid outside is the feeling of my foundation being too heavy or melting off, getting caked up, etc. I like to use a wet beauty blender to apply my foundation. If you already own one, you know that a beauty blender is a sponge that looks like one of these. In the summer, grabbing a damp blender and a very light coverage foundation, BB cream, or concealer for just small blemishes and lightly tapping the product onto the face will help prevent pores from getting clogged and disperses the makeup well. This new sheer foundation product from Urban Decay is something on my wish-list for summer right now. It has SPF and skin treatment in it. For those days where it’s too overwhelmingly hot to put a full face on, try this!
Lately, beauty gurus have been raving about “glowing skin” and how it is the #1 beauty trend for spring and summer. However, buying highlighting products that are advertised are ridiculously expensive, and some college girls just can’t afford those highlighters that individually cost $40. But, NYX has come up with their own version for only $7.50. If you’re looking for that extra touch on your foundation this season, try a highlighter like this!
I don’t recommend wearing a lot of makeup if you’re planning to be swimming at any point that you’re outdoors, but if you’re going to be somewhere near the water, or even just in a humid place, one thing that you might want to consider is makeup setting spray. I use this kind from Urban Decay. The smaller size of the bottle lasts me several months, because you only need two or three sprays each time, so in my opinion, it is worth the $14. I use the oil-control variety, and I have seen a significant, healthier difference in my skin.
So, collegiette, if you love the outdoors and spending those hot days laying in the sun, remember to take care of your skin—whether that means using weather according makeup or just slapping on some sun screen. Nobody wants a yucky face when it’s gorgeous outside!
Always remember to stay fierce, ladies! HCXO!
