“If you’re going through hell, keep going,” – Winston Churchill
When it comes to female empowerment, this quote speaks volumes. Throughout history, women have had to overcome so many battles, including the right to vote, the use of birth control, becoming leaders, the pay wage gap and so many more. For Women’s History Month, I was delighted to be able to interview someone who inspires me every day!
While she may only be a freshman at Wesleyan, Tabitha Swanson is already a leader for social rights and equality. Her activities include Service Scholars, LEAP, Zeta Tau Alpha, and Bobcat Entertainment. Tabby is also co-leading her own WE LEAD team—Invisible Illness. Tabby is a public relations major, who soon hopes to work as a philanthropist for a company after graduation.
When Tabby isn’t busy with all of her extracurricular activities and organizations, you can probably find her in her favorite place: her bed, binge-watching Netflix and making food disappear or showing off her amazing culinary skills by making grilled cheese sandwiches. Along with relaxation, she also enjoys going on adventures and hopes to visit Australia and scuba dive at the Great Barrier Reef!
Tabby is an inspiration for me to always want to be better and realize my full potential, not only as a woman, but also as a human being! March may be almost over, but remember, women’s empowerment is year-round!
