Whether you’re a Bobkitten or a Veteran Bobcat, you are now very well aware of what April is like here at WVWC.
From Spring Sing hype to the weather and final projects, we’re all at the point of drowning our sorrows in our own tears. How many of these things can you relate to?
20-Minute Weather
I one time heard someone on campus tell me, “It’s West Virginia. If you don’t like the weather, wait 20 minutes.”
It is just so true, especially this time of year.
Either that or your entire town floods a week after a blizzard the week before going on Spring Break (coughcough MARCH coughcough). Nothing makes sense, and over my four years, I feel like it is so much more heightened in Buckhannon.
If it’s warm somewhere, it’s warmer in Buckhannon. If it’s kind of raining in Clarksburg (where I live), it’s either a monsoon or the sun is out and you almost feel stupid for putting on your rain boots before you drove the forty minutes to campus.
PROJECT PROJECT HOMEWORK PROJECT EVENT REPEAT
Remember those projects from early in the semester that you didn’t really find that daunting at the beginning of the semester?
Yeah, those are due in the next two weeks.
Mmhmm.
That 10 page paper that you have known about all semester that you have even started?
IT’S TIME TO SHAKE OFF YOUR LAZINESS AND GET STARTED.
I realize that you’ve gotta get some other stuff done, but go look up Studyblr blogs on tumblr, look up studying on Pinterest and Instagram. Whatever you have to do, get studying in your face. Make yourself feel guilty you aren’t studying. Do whatever you have to do to get it done because we’re two weeks out. It’s time to get it together.
Spring Sing
I’ve never been to Spring Sing, but for the three weeks leading up to it, that is all I hear about from girls in class talking with their friends and sisters about late night practicing and seeing the articles posted on Her Campus featuring our celebs and cuties.
Then afterward, everyone is exhausted and celebratory that it’s over and they made it.
Keep breathing – you’re going to make it.
Final Tests and Juries
Some people are going to finish up their semesters before the last week starts, so there’s some stress even before finals time.
Those early tests and juries (performing in front of a panel of judges – scary!) can make things super stressful, even if you feel prepared.
But, think of it this way: that’s one less thing you’ve got to worry about leading up to the actual week.
Packing
How many of you have taken a look around your room and thought, “Man! When did I get all this stuff?”
Start small. Check Pinterest for packing tips.
Graduating senior?
Start selling stuff from your room on Facebook, donate it to the rummage sale that’s held around Buckhannon each year (boxes should be going around soon).
Graduation
This one is all new to me. I’m not really an authority on anything other than the growing amount of time I spend trying not to cry thinking about everything I’ve always known coming to an end, and I don’t have employment lined up (and I kind of don’t want to).
Now all that “free money” that you took out as loans are now coming up and you’ve got to get a job, and pretty darn good one in order to make it.
Suddenly, Mom’s house and your childhood bedroom is starting to look real cozy.
However, most of us have to go on to adult responsibilities (my husband might not like me laying in my childhood home all day) so get started one step at a time.

Keep up your head and your hard work. Remember that we’re all in this together. We’re going to make it. Insert any other motivational statements here.
GOOD LUCK!!
