Washington State Governor Jay Inslee visited campus on Thursday, to urge students to vote. However, his visit was marked by an assembly of students and community members gathered by the members Lummi Nation to protest the Dakota Access Pipeline.Â
Inside Miller Hall, where Governor Inslee was to give his address, protesters filed in, carrying signs that read “Water is Life” and “#NoDAPL”. Governor Inslee gave a talk on the importance of finding alternate, sustainable energy sources, but was interrupted many times by a crowd upset over the injustices taking place at Standing Rock. Â
