5 things that are helping me through quarantine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

Do you see the light at the end of this pandemic tunnel? Be honest with yourself. Personally, I kinda see it. It’s like the size of a pen point, but it’s there! Until we can go back outside to our normal day to day life, I’ve been trying to find ways to stay sane as we are all quarantined to our homes. Over the course of these 20 days, I’ve found that these items have made things a little better and keep me on schedule.

HydroFlask

This water bottle is my bff! I love drinking ice-cold water and this keeps my ice solid for so long. I always have it next to my computer when I’m working on homework and take it with me to bed every night. I think that it is definitely worth investing in especially with the straw lid!

Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer

I’ve been using Glossier products for 3-4 years now and I don’t know how I survived without this for so long. This moisturizer isn’t like others I’ve used. Unlike others, it doesn’t leave me greasy, but also moisturizes my skin like I have a thick layer of crème on. Not only does it soothe my dry skin, it also lightens the redness on my face and doesn’t cause any breakouts. Could it get any better?!?

Bullet Journal

I first started bullet journaling in the beginning of 2018 as a way to be creative. At the time, I used both my bullet journal and planner simultaneously to keep my life and schoolwork separate so I didn’t take up so much room. Since then, I have merged the 2 and have finally found a way to keep everything organized without overloading my journal. Some of the most important pages I have are a year in color (tracks my moods), a want & need list, Netflix movies and TV show list, and a monthly calendar in front of each month section. With all this free time, I have started relying on my bullet journal more as a way to track everything going on. For example, I have a page for what I’m grateful for during the month of April as well as how many days I have been in quarantine.

CALM by 5 Seconds of Summer

This album could not have dropped at a better time! The album includes 5 songs that were released before the entire album was released with a total of 12 songs. Each song connects differently with the listener and can be listened to in almost any setting aka while doing homework, while cleaning, while in the shower, the list goes on and on for where I have listened to this album. 100/10 would recommend.

Tiger King on Netflix

You have probably already heard of all the talk around Netflix’s documentary, Tiger King. This show is not only fascinating, but frightening to see how far some people will go when it comes to their animals. Here are my thoughts: Joe Exotic originally had good intentions but got too attached to money, Carole Baskin 1000% killed her husband and Doc Antle runs a cult. Do I know that any of these are true? No, but I can make assumptions based off the show. I could talk about the show all day and have gotten my parents to watch it so I could have someone to talk to about it cause it’s legit insane!
