Thanksgiving is nearly here and I’m sure I’m not the only one who is thankful! As a time that’s all about being thankful for what we have, an easy way to remind ourselves of this is taking part in a little daily gratitude journaling. What better way to get into the Thanksgiving mood?
Whether it’s a list, a short paragraph, or just the most important item of the day, writing out what you’re thankful for can be a reminder of the many great things happening in your life. This is a good way to start (or end) the day, writing about a little something that makes you happy. Maybe you’re thankful for the fall weather, caring friends, or that the end of the semester is finally here? No matter what it is, take the opportunity to write it down.
Gratitude journaling forces you to slow down and spend a few minutes with yourself, making you focus on a positive thing in your life. It gets you out of your usual daily routine. Plus, it provides an easy pick-me-up when you’re feeling down, just thumb through your journaling and remember a few of the many things that bring a smile to your face.
Don’t just focus on the items in your life you’re thankful for, like your favorite mug or Netflix, but also the people in your life or the opportunities you’ve had. Reflect on what your life would be like without some of your everyday items and you’ll realize pretty quickly you’re thankful for a whole lot more than you originally thought.
