Our Rating of Every Song on Taylor Swift’s 1989

If you’re anything like us, you can’t stop listening to Taylor Swift new album 1989. We love her new indie, electro-pop sound, and we couldn’t help but give the album track by track rating using some of Talyors favorite things. We paired each song with Taylor’s instagrams of song lyrics from each new track, along with our best guess of who each song is about.  Check out Taylor’s latest album in the iTunes store, or go to Target to pick up the deluxe edition that features 3 bonus tracks and lots of other goodies!

Track 1: Welcome to New York 

Our favorite line: “Everybody here was someone else before”

Who/ What it’s probably about: The Big Apple of course. 

Our Rating: ​ 4 out of 5 heavily filterd photos of cats.

 

Track 2: Blank Space

Our favorite line: “Cause, darling, I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream”

Who/ What it’s probably about: The collective past and future beaus of our girl T Swift. 

Our Rating: 5 out of 5 new tubes of red lipstick. 

Track 3: Style

Our favorite line: 

“You got that James Dean day dream look in your eye

And I got that red lip classic thing that you like” 

Who/ What it’s probably about: Harry STYLEs

Our Rating: 3 out of 5 doodles of the number 13. 

Track 4: Out of the Woods

Our favorite line: 

“The rest of the world was black and white

But we were in screaming color”

Who/ What it’s probably about: Harry Styles and their snow-mobile accident.  

Our Rating: 5 out of 5 winged eyeliners 

Track 5: All You Had to do Was Stay

Our favorite line: 

“People like you always want back the love they pushed aside

But people like me are gone forever when you say goodbye”

Who/ What it’s probably about: Not sure exactly who, but a guy who was unwilling to commit.

Our Rating: 3 out of 5 polaroid pictures

Track 6: Shake it Off

Our favorite line: 

“To the fella over there with the hella good hair

Won’t you come on over baby we can shake, shake, shake”

Who/ What it’s probably about: Haters, players, heart-breakers, and fakers– and the power of shaking it. 

Our Rating: 5 out of 5 suprised faces

Track 7: I Wish You Would

Our Favorite Line: 

“I wish you knew that I’ll never forget you as long as I live,

I wish you were right here, right now, it’s all good, I wish you would”

Who/ What it’s probably about: A lost love. We’d guess Styles again, but we can’t be sure. 

Our Rating: 4 out of 5 bouts of enthusiastic awards show audience-dancing

Track 8: Bad Blood 

Our Favorite Line: 

“Band-aids don’t fix bullet holes

You say sorry just for show” 

Who/ What it’s Probably about: Katy Perry. The two had a falling out about back-up dancers that dropped out of Swift’s tour to join Perry’s.  

Our Rating: 3 out of 5 hands shaped into a heart 

Track 9: Wildest Dreams

Our Favorite Line: 

“Nothing lasts foreverBut this is gonna take me downHe’s so tall, and handsome as hellHe’s so bad but he does it so well”

Who/What it’s Probably About: Wanting to be remembered by an ex. 

Our Rating: 5 out of 5 batches of freshly baked cookies from scratch

Track 10: How You Get the Girl

Our Favorite Line: 

“I want you for worse or for better

I would wait for ever and ever”

Who it’s probably about: Taylor and Harry re-kindling their romance after a 6 month break. 

Our rating: 3 out of 5 pairs of high-waisted shorts 

Track 11: This Love

Our Favorite Line:

“These hands had to let it go free

And this love came back to me”

Who/ What It’s Probably About: The same thing as How You Get the Girl: Taylor and Harry picking up where they left off. 

Our Rating: 3 out of 5 photos of Talyor looking flawless after a workout 

Track 12: I Know Places

Our Favorite Line: 

“Loose lips sink ships all the damn time

Not this time” 

Who/ What It’s Probably About: The paparazzi and trying to avoid them

Our Rating: 4 out of 5 crop-top and high-waisted skirt combos 

Track 13: Clean 

Our Favorite Line: 

“Hung my head as I lost the war

And the sky turned black like a perfect storm”

Who/ What it’s probably about: Getting over a relationship that was like an addiction (We’re guessing Harry). 

Our Rating: 4 out of 5 pegacorn costumes
