Ever want to wear a certain outfit but the patterns clash, the colors don’t match and there is really no class or style to it? That is exactly the sort of outfit that will make you a tailgate star.
This Saturday our football team is taking on our biggest rival, Harvard, and it is our job as students to support them the best we can. Since we can’t help with the football aspect, we must take it upon ourselves to accept and conquer the tailgate scene. It is our duty to out-fun, out-dress and out-do the Harvard kids. Here’s how to put together the best tailgate outfit:
- Think blue. Your outfit can have cheetah print (personal fave), galaxy patterns – whatever you want – but you have to have one main staple that makes it clear you are rooting blue. It can be a Y baseball cap or Y sweater, but it needs to be obvious what side you’re on
- No theme means every theme. Thriftshop theme, animal theme, onesies, hippie… basically any theme works – and any combination of themes
- Comfort is key. There’s dancing, running around and a lot of cheering so wear an outfit you can move in and maybe even sweat a little in
Ideas for inspiration:
- Y baseball cap
- Y letter sweaters
- Tall socks
- Animal prints
- Fanny packs
- Sunglasses
- Shiny tights
- Mardi-gras beads
- Neon colours
- Anything from a 60s/70s/80s/90s workout video
- Bright, obnoxious colours
- Leftover Halloween costumes
Things to remember:
- It may rain
- It’s cold
- You will likely get spilled on, spill on yourself, fall on your face – don’t wear nice clothes
- It’s a marathon not a sprint
