Name: John Whitelaw
Year: 2014
College: Branford
Major: Economics
Hometown: Chicago, Illinois
Â
I sat down with John for lunch in Ezra Stiles right after he had finished his workout for the day. I immediately took notice of his outfit choice: Yale fleece beanie, inside-out shirt, and Crocs. Mr. Whitelaw’s handsome, rugged looks and blatant disregard of fashion norms led me to the only logical explanation: this guy is the real deal.
Â
HC: So John, you’re slated to be Yale’s starting quarterback next year.  Are you excited for the opportunity?
Â
JW: More excited than anything. We have such a great group of guys coming back and I am just happy to be a part of it.
Â
HC: Between football and academics, you must have a lot on your plate. What do you do when you need to de-stress?
Â
JW: Hang out with people that make me laugh. Always guaranteed to work.
Â
HC: Do you get along with your roommate? Any pet peeves?
Â
JW: Yes. Although he snores like a bear, he is a really good friend of mine.
Â
Unfortunately, roommate Cameron Sandquist was unavailable to comment.Â
Â
HC: Who is your celebrity crush?
Â
JW: Natalie Portman and the mom from Wedding Crashers.
Â
HC: Did you have a crush on Natalie Portman even during her bald phase?
Â
JW: That’s WHY I like her… real hot.
Â
HC: Where are we most likely to find you on a Saturday night?
Â
JW: Â Dancing the night away.Â
Â
HC: Rumor has it you like to sport Crocs on a frequent basis. I just have to know… why?
Â
JW: Crocs are the most versatile shoes on the market. They can be worn in the shower and at parties.
Â
It made perfect sense. When dealing with fraternity basements that are equally as grimy as public shower floors, why not just wear shower shoes?  Frat stars – take note.
Â
HC: Any dining hall you prefer over the others?
Â
JW: Hands down Ezra Stiles. A+ social scene every meal.Â
Â
HC: What is your go to move when trying to win a girl over?
Â
JW: I tell girls that I’m Patrick Witt.
Â
HC: What would make a girl stand out to you?
Â
JW: Great sense of humor, loves to dance, great smile, and great eyes.
Â
His answer was the definition of perfection. Her Campus was definitely sold on Mr. John Whitelaw. Ladies, we’ve found a gem. Don’t let this one get away.
