Do you know those days where it seems like everything goes wrong? Like, EV. ER. Y. THING! This was the kind of day I had. To make matters worse, it happened on Friday the 13.
I’m not a particularly superstitious person – I never have been. I always believed my family/friends were crazy when they would suggest I do things a certain way: such as, walking back around an object because I “cut” it.
Well, today made me believe, somewhat.
I had a presentation today and it… it could’ve went better. Here’s my Friday the 13th horror story.
I get up early and get ready for my day. Outfit looks good, hair is amazing, eyebrows and eyes are fierce. I head out to print off notes I had made the night before. I get to the computer lab, and the computer I just happened to choose isn’t working.
It begins loading slowly. I turn it off and back on and it loads fine. When I log on and try to print off my notes, the printer isn’t working!
Now I attempt to log off this computer, fail, and when I try to shut it off so it can restart, it doesn’t even do this! I try the computer next to me and this one can’t even sign me in (exasperated sigh).
I figure that I don’t have time for this…I have class. I think to myself, I’ll head over to main campus, print it off there and go to my class for my presentation.
I get to the computer lab on main campus and try, once again, to print off my notes. There is no printer in the computer lab, it has been moved to another room and I have no idea where this room is. So, I start my next adventure of finding this room with the printer. FAIL! I go back to the room I started in, and lo and behold… the room with the printer is right across the hall.
I print off my notes and go to class. I get there, this guy is going to present first, but the computer is off and loading slow. The professor takes our class into another room where the guy proceeds with his presentation. Time is winding down and I’m thinking to myself, “Great! I’ll just present on Monday!”
When he is finished, my teacher looks and me and says, “Go ahead.”
I’m like, “There is only 10 minutes left.” My professor says to just get through what I can, my grade won’t be affected. I go:
In order to keep my information safe, I turn off the display. When I go to turn it back on, the display decides it’s going to fully turn off and now we have to wait even longer for it to turn back on!
I finally get through my presentation and at this point I’m ready to head back to my dorm. All I’m thinking about is laying in my bed, eating some comfort food and Starbucks, having a good cry, and waiting for the whole day to end. And that is exactly what I did after my second class – minus the crying part.
I’m a believer now. I believe that Friday the 13th is just the worst day ever and I hope in the future that I can forget this day ever happened. In the meantime, I’m really just going to chalk it up to the day just being one of those days where nothing seems to go your way.
I survived!
