Dry skin always intensifies as soon as it starts getting cold outside. Thankfully, there are a lot of beauty products out there that can help keep your skin feeling and looking hydrated. Keep reading if you want to find out about the best skincare and makeup products for dry skin.

Masks

Using a hydrating face mask every now and again on very dry skin is super helpful. The FRESH Rose Face Mask and GLAMGLOW’s Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment are two great face masks for dry skin. They both hydrate the skin while also helping with dullness and redness. When my skin gets extremely dry, I use one of these once or twice a week depending on the severity of my dryness and these products never disappoint.

Oils

Face oils are so important to use when your skin is really dry and flaky. You can’t go wrong with Argan, Tantula or Marula oil. You can go down the expensive route and get luxury oils there are cheaper options such as The Ordinary’s 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil. Personally, I really enjoy the Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil and Drunk Elephant’s Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil. Having dry skin can be tough but using a face oil will help!

Hydrators

Using a hydrator is crucial. Moisturizers are great but your skin will be more hydrated if you use a hydrator prior to moisturizing. Two great hydrators are Drunk Elephant’s B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum and First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum. They both provide your skin with intense hydration that’ll smoothen, soften and replenish your skin.

Moisturizers

Once you’ve put your hydrating serum on, you should moisturize as to lock in that hydration. If you’ve got extremely dry skin, First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration will truly help. It  can provide hydration for dry, itchy, and distressed skin, and it can even help with eczema. Since it is a thick formula, I prefer to use it at night. For a hydrating daytime moisturizer, I recommend trying Clinique’s Moisture Surge 72-Hour-Auto-Replenishing Hydrator. It has a smooth consistency that hydrates the skin without feeling too thick.

Lip Treatments

I’ve been obsessed with the LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask for over a year now. It’s such a great product and it’s worth every penny! By using this product at night, you will wake up with moisturized and smooth lips every morning. It’s a total life saver.

Face Primers

Two of my favorite primers to use for hydration is the Smashbox Primerizer and the Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer. The Smashbox primer is very hydrating and cooling which makes the skin feel fresh. Plus, it’ll make your foundation look great! If you want something that’s less watery, the Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer is one to try. This one will smoothen and brighten your skin while also hydrating it, bringing your dry and dull skin back to life!

Foundations

Wearing foundation on top of dry skin can be tricky with dry patches and flakiness. However, it’s possible to achieve a dewy or matte look with the right foundation even when your skin is dry. My favorite one for a more full-coverage natural look is Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation. This foundation never clutches on to my dry patches and always makes my skin look dewy and fresh. For a less expensive option, I also really like the Too Faced Born This Way foundation. It has ingredients like alpine rose, coconut water and hyaluronic acid which all help with skin hydration and smoothing.

Concealers

Two of my favorite concealers to use, either when my skin is doing well or when it’s awfully dry, are Jouer’s Essential High Coverage Liquid Concealer and Maybelline’s Fit Me Concealer. They both brighten and cover up any dark circles without drying out your skin. Recently, I’ve been using the Jouer concealer a lot but Maybelline’s Fit Me Concealer is such a staple and so inexpensive that I’ll always love it.

Setting Powder

To set your foundation and concealer, a setting powder is always useful. However,  it’s not always easy to find a hydrating powder. BECCA has an amazing setting powder called the Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder. It sets your makeup but has a watery mist like effect on the skin that will keep your makeup in place but won’t dry your skin out!

Lipsticks

Wearing lip products during winter can be tough as they tend to really dry out your lips, and nobody wants cracked lips. The key is to find lip products that’ll hydrate, or at the very least won’t dry your lips out. Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-In-Stick Lipsticks are so perfect for dry lips because they add colour without drying your lips and even conditions it. They’re perfect for an easy and shiny lip. For more of a matte finish, I’d recommend the NUDESTIX Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencils. They go on very creamy but dry down to a nice matte finish without drying your lips. These lip pencils go on so easily and feel very soft. If you prime your lips well before using it, you shouldn’t get flaky lips.

As someone who always has dry skin, I’ve tried and loved all of the products listed above. I highly recommend you give them a try to help combat your dry skin this winter.
