Christmas is approaching and it’s time to get into the holiday spirit! One of the best ways to do so is by watching holiday-themed movies. This year, Netflix released a few of their own holiday movies, and they’re perfectly cheesy. As always, the Hallmark channel will also be releasing a ton of new holiday movies this December, so keep an eye out for those too. Since there are so many holiday movies coming out and so little time to watch them all, here’s a list of the top five must-watch holiday movies of 2018.

The Princess Switch (Netflix)

Starring Vanessa Hudgens, this cutesy holiday movie is very reminiscent of the Princess and the Pauper. It follows two young women – a duchess and a regular girl – who switch places and end up falling in love with the other’s beau. It definitely has a super cheesy ending but, if you love a good royal Christmas movie, then you’ll probably enjoy this one!

A Majestic Christmas (Hallmark)

This movie has all the Hallmark staples: an over romanticized job for our leading lady, a small town, and a handsome male lead. The movie stars the wonderful Jerrika Hinton (Grey’s Anatomy) and Ontario native Christian Vincent. This movie will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, even with its overly cheesy moments.

Christmas Chronicles (Netflix)

This funny movie revolves around two siblings who take a ride on Santa’s sleigh, eventually causing it to crash. This leads to a whole lot of weirdness to ensue – including Santa going to jail! It’s comedic enough to make people laugh yet still catches the spirit of Christmas, which makes it the perfect family movie for the holidays. Plus, it has the cutest elves!

Christmas Joy (Hallmark)

Starring Danielle Panabaker (CW’s The Flash), this Hallmark movie follows the main character (Panabaker) as she heads back to her small hometown right around Christmas. There, she has a meet-cute with hospital administrator Ben (Matt Long). Even though this movie is very similar to most Hallmark movies, it does highlight important female relationships through its characters.

A Christmas Prince: Royal Wedding (Netflix)

The long-awaited sequel to Netflix’s A Christmas Prince is finally here! Last year, the first movie became an internet sensation for it’s over the top cheesiness and viewers demanded more. Netflix listened and gave us a sequel! It’s very reminiscent of Cinderella 2: Dreams Come True (2002) as it follows our main characters and their upcoming nuptials. Planning a wedding is hard enough, but imagine if you were becoming queen at the same time. Like its predecessor, this film is full of cheesy scenes and royally cute moments.
