It’s rather like Marmite: you either love it or you hate it. For those of you whom Wednesday is simply incomplete without a stop off in Reflex, you’re in for a treat. Equally so, for those girlies for whom the 80s reflex vibe just doesn’t get you singing Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”, then fear no more. Its vast ÂŁ220,000 revamp is sure to win over you reflex virgins. The revamp has not only given this George Hudson Street bar new sound and lighting systems, but the ‘party style’ music is also set to encompass three decades instead of just one.

For all you newbies, ‘reflex’ gives you the opportunity to sing your heart out to “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” while cracking some priceless moves on its legendary revolving dance floor. Note that this is typically as a result of an indulgence of cheap jaeger bombs and an adrenaline rush from being thrown off the infamous bucking bronco.
Â
The transformation from ‘Reflex’ to ‘Popworld’ has enabled this venue to offer four new VIP booths with their own dance floors and private waiter service, which can be hired out for parties or larger gatherings. ‘Popworld’ is open until 2am every night bar Friday and Saturday, where they close at 3am, so ladies don’t fret: it can still be a welcome pit stop on the way to Willow.
Â
Their official opening was on the 30th of August, where those famous S Club 7 members Jo O’Meara and Bradley MacIntosh featured in a one-off gig. It’s on the way to Salvation, so girlies, you may as well pop in for a refuel. Even if you’re not a fan of the cheesy music, the dance floor is still there and really worth a shot…or two!
