Happy midterm season! I can’t believe we’re here already. It feels as if spring semester just started a few weeks ago. While these next few days may be incredibly stressful and exhausting, it’s important to take care of yourself and keep working hard. Here are some of my favorite quotes from famous women to encourage you to stay strong and stay the course:
- “We can endure much more than we think we can.” – Frida Kahlo – Our bodies were designed to withstand a lot more than we expect. Know that you are stronger than your circumstances. Also keep in mind that your GPA is just a number, and your degree is just a piece of paper.
- “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” – Helen Keller – Take a deep breath and focus on small joys. Remain optimistic that you will do well on all of your exams, papers, and projects.
- “I attribute my success to this: I never gave or took an excuse.” – Florence Nightingale – Try not to make excuses for yourself or your circumstances. Rise above and do what you can.
- “No need to hurry. No need to sparkle. No need to be anybody but oneself.” – Virginia Woolf – Pay little attention to what everyone else is doing around you. Be yourself and do what you need to do to succeed.
- “The hard days are what make you stronger.” – Aly Raisman – This week may be tiring and frustrating. Know that this will only last for a little while. Remember that spring break is on the horizon.
- “Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.” – Harriet Beecher Stowe – Celebrate, sister! You’re halfway done with this semester! Don’t give up now.
- “If you want the rainbow, you’ve got to put up with the rain.” – Dolly Parton – Dolly’s always right. While this week may feel overcast with endless rain showers, keep your head up with your face to the sky.
- “Understand that getting help isn’t a sign of weakness but a sign of strength.” – Michelle Obama – There is absolutely no shame in attending office hours, hiring a tutor, and/or attending group study sessions. Take your education into your own hands and seek out additional help when needed.
- “Mistakes are a fact of life. It is the response to the errors that counts.” – Nikki Giovanni – Sometimes we don’t receive the grade we expect. Don’t allow disappointment to affect the rest of your semester. Learn from these mistakes and move on.
- “You are your best thing.” – Toni Morrison – At the end of the day, you still have life and breath. Give thanks for the little things.
