Earth Lovers: Top 5 Easy Ways to Save Water!

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I hope you all took your 3-minute shower today… I know I did!

I am actually writing this blog post in my hour of downtime between the Emerson College Fashion Society’s Spring Fashion Shows! I’m a model in the show, and we just finished our first show, and we’re now in our dinner break before the 2nd show. So clearly, I had to take a shower this morning before the show so that I’d look good on the runway! But guess what… I woke up 20 minutes before I had to be at the runway! Ahh! And if you know me, I usually can’t get ready in 20 minutes… Especially if that 20 minutes also includes waking up and forcing myself out of my bed… However, thanks to my newly found talent of taking 3-minute showers, I somehow managed to get ready and get to the show ontime – even with a coffee stop on the way! I was so proud of myself…!

Me in my dress, designed by Bonnie Ong, a student at Emerson (Emerson students designed everything in the Fashion Show – and all the outfits looked amazing!)

So if I – a model, or at least for the day… haha (I can pretend, right?!) – can take a 3-minute shower, you definitely can too!

However, if shorter showers seem out of reach for you, or if you want to be an awesome over-achiever and save water in other ways too, here is my list of:

Top 5 Easy Ways to Save Water:

1. Wait until your dishwasher is full to wash the dishes – or if you’re washing dishes by hand, turn the water off except for when you’re rinsing them!
2. Keep a cold pitcher of water in the fridge – then when you want a cold glass of water, you don’t have to run the water until it gets cold!
3. When taking a bath, don’t wait until the water gets hot to start filling up the tub – plug the drain first, and then adjust the temperature of the tub as it fills!
4. Turn off the water when you’re brushing your teeth – you only need to have the faucet running for a few seconds at the beginning and the end!
5. Only do laundry when you have a full load of clothes – wait until you have enough clothes to fill the washer all the way up, so that you don’t waste water doing too many loads!

And the best part is, none of those ways to save water will take up any extra time, and they’ll take barely any extra thought and effort! If anything, they’ll actually save you time!

That’s all for today! I promise I will show you my Shower Gels for Earth Lovers that I got from The Body Shop a.s.a.p! I want to show them to you in a video post, and I don’t have time to make a video today… but I will soon!
