Do you have a favorite pair of knee-high boots that you can’t seem to combine with your winter closet? Are you a fan of this trend, but have never bought a pair? If you relate to either of these questions, this guide is essential to planning your winter wardrobe. The best part about knee-high boots is that they’re actually super easy to style. Read on to learn what looks work best with these boots!

The wedge boot: Babydoll dress and patterned coat

This outfit is more traditional, but that’s likely why it’s a good combination. A coat like this one from Old Navy ($32) has a mature look, but a detail like a fun print adds a youthful component, and an interesting contrast. Choose a dress in a solid color, like this dress from ASOS ($45), that has enough going on to be interesting. Stripes, lace, and fun seams work as long as they don’t clash with the coat that you choose.

The real star of the show, of course, is the knee-high boots — a pair like these from Nordstrom ($120) can look flattering with the dress and coat combo. The wedge heel makes it less challenging to wear these if heels aren’t your go-to and a color that goes with both the coat and dress is a good idea.

The stiletto boot: Layered dress

Dresses with a suede fabric like this one from Loft ($29) are great for winter, but because it is sleeveless, a sweater is needed somewhere in this outfit. Because a sweater over this particular dress could look heavy, a top underneath, such as this turtleneck from Dillard’s ($79), is the perfect way to stay warm and look unique. Turtlenecks with ruffles or vintage collars can add some fun texture to the dress. A pair of tights underneath can also create extra warmth.

Many pairs of boots can look good with this dress and turtleneck combo, and a pair like these brown stiletto heels from ASOS ($64) are one of them. They have a different texture than the clothing, but the warm tone makes them work for winter and possibly next fall!

The flat boot: Pants and poncho

ASOS DESIGN, ASOS, $46, shop now

This outfit works so well because it is conducive to everyday outings. A poncho, like this one from Garnet Hill ($229), is oversized like a sweater, but is even more comfortable because there are no sleeves. That poncho is admittedly on the more expensive side, but you can match it with some super-affordable classic pants like these ones from Old Navy ($10), which will work well for winter while matching the boots.

The look, paired with flat boots like this pair from ASOS ($46), can make a busy day easier — you’ll feel so comfortable while still looking stylish. Though these shoes are available in multiple colors, black blends with dark trousers and jeans to make the legs look much longer.

If one of these options was similar to your own style, then go for it! If you have similar pieces in your closet already and an interest in this boot trend, then try planning outfits at home — you’ll be surprised at how versatile these boots can be.
