Aimee Mullins: New L’Oreal Paris Global Ambassador

L’Oreal ParisĀ  is not only known for their collection of sophisticated, irresistible, and beautiful makeup, but also for their notable family of spokespeople including Milla Jovovich, Beyonce Knowles, Gwen Stefaniā€”just to name a few.Ā  Aimee Mullinsā€”talented actress, athlete, and stunning modelā€”has been named one of the New Global Ambassadors for the company.

Ā
ā€œThe Lā€™Oreal Paris icons are among the most beautiful women in the world. I am very honored to be joining this family. The ā€˜Because Iā€™m Worth Itā€™ tagline means a lot to me. Beauty is not skin-deep; it can be a means of self-affirmation, a true indicator of personality and confidence,ā€ says Aimee.
Ā
Aimee is an outstanding individual for a number of reasons. While attending Georgetown University on a full academic scholarship, she competed National Collegiate Athletic Association competitions and was the first woman with prosthetic legs to do so. (She was born without fibulae in both legs and eventually her doctors amputated them but she learned how to walk on prosthetic legs at the young age of two!) During her college career, she competed (and of course set world records) in the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta in the 100- and 200-meter dashes as well as the long jump. Following this incredible year of accomplishments, Aimee was named president of the Womenā€™s Sports Foundation in 2007. Iā€™d say she was one heck of a Collegiette.ā„¢
Ā
ā€œAn accomplished athlete, muse, fashion model and talented actress, yet [Aimee] is so much more: a smart, confident, curious woman who will wholly represent our philosophy, ‘Because You’re Worth It.’ We are proud to welcome her to the L’Oreal Paris family,” says Karen T. Fondu, President, L’Oreal Paris.
Ā
Aimee is truly an amazing woman who should inspire, motivate, and empower the present and future generations of Collegiettes.ā„¢ She has modeled in fashion shows and would walk down the runways in designed wooden prosthetics. Imagine that!Ā  Thatā€™s one thing that definitely got peopleā€™s attention. This was such an inspirational and empowering moment in the fashion world and modeling historyā€”ultimately labeling her as one of the Worldā€™s 50 Most Beautiful People in Peopleā€™s magazine. We truly think that Aimee is worth it and will show the world as sheā€™s once said that ā€œBeauty is not skin-deep; it can be a means of self-affirmation, a true indicator of personality and confidence.”
