Grammys celebrity fashion has been known to get a little risky- From J.Lo’s reveal-all Versace get up in 2000 to Lady GaGa’s circular space frock last year. Apart from Nicki Minaj’s Givenchy leopard disaster, many celebs got it right this year as soft looks and metallics ruled red carpet style. Scroll down for my best and worst fashion picks!
Best:
Selena Gomez
Channeling her inner goddess, everything about Selena’s look was soft and feminine. She paired relaxed waves with a shimmery gold J. Mendel gown to look sophisticated and elegant.
Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman looked fiery in a Jean Paul Gaultier floral-print strapless. Known to be a red carpet superstar, Nicole didn’t disappoint. The jewel tones of the dress made her complexion bright and her red hair pop.
Jennifer Lopez
It seems like American Idol is a good influence on Jennifer Lopez’s style. Looking both hot and classy, J.Lo glittered in an Emilio Pucci minidress. In addition to her killer dress, she rocked sparkle from head to toe with a shimmering clutch and studded Louboutin peep-toes.
Kelly Osbourne
Though some may disagree, I fell in love with Kelly Osbourne’s lavender look. Kelly embodies the idea that you can look feminine without feeling cookie cutter in her Tadashi Shoji mini. The dress not only shows off her new and improved body but is also a perfect mix of textures. The icing on the cake was her sparkling Alexander McQueen peep-toes.
Heidi Klum
The epitome of elegance, Heidi Klum was golden on the red carpet. Heidi wore a Julien Macdonald metallic gown that showed playfulness and sophistication. To complete the look, Heidi wore her hair up in a sweep which made her look even more regal (if that is possible.)
Can’t decide:
Rihanna
Some loved it, some hated it. Rihanna stirred up controversy in a tulle-stripped gown by Jean Paul Gaultier. Overly revealing, I couldn’t decide whether her risqué gown was trashy or couture- I am leaning towards trashy but you decide.
Worst:
Hayley Williams
While I’m as big a neon fan as they come, Hayley Williams’s dress looked more like a child’s Halloween costume than an outfit fit for the Grammys. I am all for adding a little flair but her bright orange wig and flapper gone wrong gear were a miss.
Kim Kardashian
Kim, we know you’re hot but how about covering up every now and then. True to form, Kim Kardashian looked sexy in a gold Kaufmanfranco gown. Slit down and up the front, Kim left little to the imagination. However, even though she looked hot, Kim’s look felt stale and a little more stripper than sophisticated.
Lady Gaga
I am so over it. This year, Lady Gaga showed up to the Grammys as an egg. Why, you ask? I have no idea! Though I love her music, Lady GaGa’s style seems to be a cry for attention that is getting a little old.
Nicki Minaj
While I love Nicki Minaj’s bold style, her Givenchy leopard print look was a disaster. Everything was wrong, from the dress (if you could call it that) itself to her sky-high hair and neon makeup.
Katy Perry
Perhaps Katy Perry got stuck in her Victoria’s Secret fashion show performance state of mind. The singer wore a crystal bra, angel wings and a satin train to channel her inner angel. I for one am not a fan of costumes at the Grammys. Perry looked pretty but for a costume party not the red carpet.
