Even though my skin is still a work in progress, I can finally enter a world of accepting my imperfections and opening myself to finding ways to love it. But after facing the worst acne when the season changed to cold weather, I was discouraged. So, it left me to think about my skin – and the products I use on it – differently.
Check out how I’m taking care of my skin while the season changes, and what products from Ulta Beauty I love.
Choose a simpler routine.
Being prone to acne, and dry and itchy skin during the colder seasons, I found that having a simpler routine with gentle products that don’t dry my skin out more supports my skin goals and helps it adjust nicely to the seasonal change. Simplifying my routine to products that cover the basics like cleansing and hydrating has helped my skin look and feel its best.
Wash your hands before washing your face with warm water twice a day.
I also found that how and when I wash my face was important. Since I wanted to keep my skin fresh and acne-free all winter long, I started to ensure that my hands were always cleaned before washing my face, and I do so with warm water in the morning and at night. This small step of washing my hands before washing my face and doing it twice a day has made a huge difference in my acne.
Use products with clean ingredients.
It’s no secret that the cold winter air dries our skin out, so choosing products that are free from chemicals like parabens (which can sometimes cause skin irritation) helps keep your skin moisturized – no matter how dry it might get. Products with clean ingredients are also known to help brighten and repair your skin without clogging your pores, which is perfect for maintaining healthy skin in the winter.
Establishing this solid skincare routine and using these products from Ulta Beauty has allowed me to stay confident in taking care of my skin with the changing season.
