11 Cute New Year’s Eve Decor Items To Add To Your Space, No Matter Your Plans

The end of the year is almost here, which means New Year’s Eve is coming up! Now is the time to go out and grab (or order on Amazon) some fun New Year’s Eve decor pieces to spice up your space for the last day of the year. Chances are you already have pieces that can work — just tidy up your apartment and just add in a few things that feel new and fresh for the night. There’s no need to spend tons of money on tons of fancy decor when you’d rather be buying champagne bottles (if you’re 21+, of course) for your midnight kiss! Regardless of if you’re throwing a party, hosting a dinner, or staying in with your roomie to watch the ball drop, a little New Year’s Eve decor is sure to make the night feel more festive!

We all know how to decorate for the holidays, and there’s always a wild amount of aisles dedicated to them at Target. New Year’s Eve can feel a little more unclear. I’ve got you covered with 12 decor ideas for New Year’s Eve, and spoiler alert — there are a lot of sparkles. Get ready to throw your best New Year’s Eve party yet, and say hello to 2024!

Disco Ball

When I think of New Year’s Eve, the first thing that comes to mind is glitter, sequins, and anything that sparkles. What better way to make your whole space sparkle than with a disco ball? (And without the mess of confetti everywhere!) Hang one from the center of your living room ceiling and push back your couches for an instant dance floor. While you could go classic silver, I think this hot pink disco ball ($17, Amazon) is so fun for NYE!

Streamer Curtains

The best way to enter a room is through a doorway of streamers, ofc. I love these iridescent ones from Michaels (only $7). Make your guests’ entrances more exciting by hanging a “fringe curtain” in some of your main doorways. If you have a larger doorway and don’t want to cover it completely, tie back the streamers to either side of the doorframe!

Custom Balloon Sign

Go ahead and order gold balloon letters and numbers — you know everyone is going to want to take a photo with them! (They also make for the easiest makeshift photo booth backdrop.) If you don’t want to think too much about it, just go with a giant 2024! If you’re looking for something a little different, buy the letters to spell out a cute phrase, like “champagne problems” or “toast to 2024.” Etsy sells these cursive letters in gold, silver, or rose gold.

Festive Serveware

One of the easiest ways to add decor to your space without adding clutter is to make sure the items you already have out are festive! For example, instead of just throwing chips in your popcorn bowl, buy a fun New Year’s Eve bowl, like this modern metallic one on sale at CB2. If you need something larger, Amazon has an eight-pack of plastic gold-fleck serving bowls.

At this point, balloons feel like a staple for the New Year’s Eve holiday. They’re an easy way to decorate a large space quickly, and they’re budget friendly. Instead of choosing black or gold balloons, try something like these light-up ones to add some more interest!

Fun Glassware

If you’re hosting some friends or family for dinner and are busting out the bottle of champagne before midnight (and are 21+), you’ve got to pour it into a colorful flute. Anthropologie’s Waterfall Flutes mix color and metallic for a great balance of fun and classy! If champagne flutes aren’t quite the trajectory of the night you have planned, try switching out your red solo cups for these gold-flecked cups instead ($20, Amazon).

Sequin Tablecloth

Whether you’re having a full-blown dinner party or a simple chip and drink table, a sequin tablecloth will bring some NYE energy to your snack space. This black one from Amazon is sleek, and gives off such city girl vibes. (Watch out for too much gold sequin or gold metallic in your space, though — it’s hard to pull off without looking gaudy!)

Tiny Disco Balls

I know I already mentioned a disco ball for the center of your dance floor, but if that’s not enough disco for you, these ornaments would look so cute hanging from your ceiling. Add them all over on varying lengths of ribbon for a unique party decoration. To continue the Barbie vibes into the new year, try these disco ball ornaments from Anthropologie. (The color says red, but they are hot pink in person!) This disco ball garland would also work.

Leonardo DiCaprio Tapestry

If you’re looking for a statement, make one with Leo himself. A tapestry (or giant poster) is a great way to add a larger decor piece, and also works as a great photo backdrop! If you’re going to do something like this, make sure it’s recognizable to everyone — like this iconic still of Leo toasting in The Great Gatsby. The edit on this one makes it even more festive, too!

Champagne Balloon Arch

OK, OK, I waited until idea No. 10 to mention a balloon arch — but it’s got to come eventually! These are quite the classic NYE decor item, and while they can be cheesy (in my opinion), this one with a champagne bottle and “bubbles” is really cute. I love that the token gold balloons are really just clear balloons with gold confetti inside — it looks much more expensive even though it isn’t!

Edible Glitter

NYE decor is really about injecting glitter into every space possible. Set aside some edible glitter at your drink table for guests to make their drinks sparkle. Fancy Sprinkles has an abundant amount of edible glitter for you to choose from.
