This has to win an award for the most “dad” moment of the year. Reddit user _gina_marie_ shared her father’s cute, and, well… clueless gesture to the subreddit Makeup Addiction. While her father was in the hardware store gathering supplies to paint a helmet, he “saw the sponges on a stick and thought, ‘well, she does put on makeup with a sponge, so why not get her one on a stick so it’ll be easier to control.’”
While there’s no doubt in my mind that a tool used to slab paint onto a wall wouldn’t be anywhere near as effective as a Beauty Blender that is intended for your delicate skin, it’s the thought that counts. Considering most fathers (mine included!) wouldn’t know the difference between an eyeliner and a brow pencil, it’s sweet that this doting dad payed attention to his daughter’s beauty routine.
This isn’t the first time that Gina Marie’s father has been exposed to the wonderful world of makeup. After the post captured the hearts of other users in the online community, she added to the thread “His mother modeled for EstĂ©e Lauder and I think it makes him think of his mother when I talk about new foundations I’m trying or new lip colors. He says I look like her, too. It’s something nice we can talk [about] and bond over.” I’m not crying; I have mascara in my eye.
Gina thanked her dad, and promised that she would try out the new sponge. Who knows—maybe this could be the latest beauty hack. But maybe hold on to your Beauty Blender for now.
