Day-to-Night: Make Your Work Attire Work For You

Let’s be honest collegiettes™: sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day. Especially between juggling a crazy internship schedule, friends, and maybe even school work, too, making it back to your apartment to change your outfit between everything you do just isn’t possible. For some collegiettes™ this might pose a problem…after all, nobody wants to show up at happy hour in a power suit. So here are three easy ways to turn your internship attire from day-to-night effortlessly, quickly, and stylishly.

If you wore a traditional blazer and skirt to work…

Try rocking a tank top with some interest underneath your blazer (TopShop, $60.00). Anything that adds a pop of color or a little bit of lace would be the perfect choice. If you’re heading out to dinner with friends after work, add a statement necklace (ModCloth, $39.99) and strappy heels (Steve Madden, $44.99) for a more playful side to your ensemble.

If you wore a solid color dress to work…

Try adding a pair of summery espadrilles (Steve Madden, $99.95) and a chunky bracelet (ModCloth, $19.99) to your outfit. If your internship requires you to dress even more modestly, layer a light sweater over your dress (ModCloth, $47.99). Then at the end of the day, forget the sweater and you’re ready to go from day to date night!

If you wore dress pants to work…

…Honestly, I’m not really sure how to work around dress pants. For me, there’s just something about a crisp, neutral colored pair of pants that screams office attire no matter where you are. And so, my solution to this outfit dilemma is simple: pack a skirt (TopShop, $80.00). Before heading out for the night, change into a cute skirt and pumps (Steve Madden, $99.95). As long as you wear a cute top that day, add a cocktail ring (Francesca’s Boutique, $18.00) and you’re good-to-go.
