As good as I felt today, smelling so wonderful and all, I couldn’t help but remember that Saturday is my busiest, most jam-packed day of all spring.
Cal Day is an open house of sorts, mostly for newly admitted students but also for the community at large. As a member of the Cal Band, we play at 3 performances between 8AM and noon. We then board buses to head up north to Picnic Day at UC Davis, where we participate in a battle of the bands until we get too tired (~8PM) or when our director gets too cranky (~4PM). The whole day is super fun but extremely exhausting.
In addition, Cal Day tends to fall on the hottest day of spring so far, meaning we’re sweaty before we even leave Cal for (even hotter) Davis. Thinking back to my slip-up the other day, I need to strategize so I can keep up at the Earth Lovers 3-Minute Shower Challenge. This is what I’ve been thinking:
- Slightly vary my alternating hair/shaving schedule so I won’t need to do either that night, keeping my shower time down and letting me focus on getting the day’s grim off.
- Keep my 3 minute song poppin’! As much as I love “What a Girl to Do” by Bat for Lashes, I need something to keep me moving, grooving, and efficiently bathing during my limited time span.
I feel silly planning my weekend around my shower Saturday night, but that is the small sacrifice I make in order to conserving water. I guess it would be the same as planning my route to work around taking public transportation rather than driving.
Coming up later this week: half way point!! Woo! 1 week down, 1 more to go. Also, a personal reason why I’m taking the 3-Minute Shower Challenge.

What I did with my extra time: turned in an application for somewhere place to live next year – and it’s not a cardboard box!
