Today’s shower time: last night – very very short – under 3 minutes (OK, I must admit I didn’t wash my hair. I have to run early today so the real challenge will be after that run.
The shower situation: ran from the gym to a meeting and then FINALLY ate dinner – then I had time to shower
Why you should come back tomorrow: It’s the last day of the challenge!
I rarely go to the gym. I prefer to run outside or practice yoga – in a studio or at home. I usually only go to the gym when the temperatures are in the single digits. I always thought running in the cold would be scary but I actually enjoy it – before my fingers freeze and after they thaw post run.
I had an article in yesterday’s Daily Illini about how people should focus on nutrition before exercise. I hope this didn’t keep people away from the gym, because as I was leaving today (I had to do speed work for half training and that’s much easier on a track) I saw a great sign. The university’s Campus Recreation is promoting a greener way of life. Take a look here!
If you don’t get around to it, here are some of Campus Rec’s tips. Check them out, and remember, it just takes one small change to make a big difference:
- Eat organic and local foods.
- Shut the water off while brushing your teeth and shaving (something I’ve been doing as of late).
- Don’t leave refrigerator doors open (even if you plan to put something back in 30 seconds later).
- Turn lights off when you leave the room.
I cannot believe the three minute shower challenge is almost over. That means two weeks have flown by! A lot has happened in that two weeks, and almost everything has been positive. I cannot thank my friends and family enough for their support. I’ve received so much feedback and have seen such incredible ideas. As a reward, my parents and sister don’t have to put up with such long showers anymore.
The ending of the challenge also means graduation is nearing. I cannot believe I’m going to have a college degree in less than one month. It’s crazy but exciting. I’ve had a great college experience, but I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
