Hi guys!
I didn’t get to post yesterday because I showered so late. Between running from meetings to chats with friends, my night got pretty hectic. On the plus side, my shower clocked in at two-and-a-half minutes because I was so tired! I was surprised that I was able to get clean that quickly, but I also skipped conditioner because my hair was (and is) still soft from the hair butter.
Today’s post will be about the logistics of my short & sweet shower.
1. Turn on the water, and hop in. The past week has taught me that jumping into the water before it warms up gets me ready to shower quickly and skedaddle.
2. I place a a dollop of shampoo in my hand, lather it with water (a necessary step with The Body Shop’s Rainforest Balance Shampoo, since it doesn’t contain sulfates), then rub into my hair and rinse immediately. No need to let the shampoo sit when conditioners often contain some of the same cleaning ingredients as shampoo.
3. With clean(ish?) hair, I turn off the water and apply conditioner. While letting the conditioner sit, I apply body gel. Before washing my face, I turn the water on to a trickle to rinse the body gel off of my hands.
4. Turn on the water full blast, rinse quickly and thorughly, and enjoy the lingering scent of the rainforest!
5. I prefer to towel dry my hair until it’s damp, then let it air dry, rather than use a blow dryer. This is due to a multitude of factors: I lack the coordination to use a blow dryer (I’m not kidding), my hair looks better, and I save time and conserve energy. The first and second reasons might be more closely tied than I’d care to admit, but my hair usually doesn’t look dry or frizzy, which I attribute to exposing my hair to minimal heat.
I met up with a friend of mine during lunch today. It was 12:45, she’d just come from the gym, needed to eat, and she, like me, had class at 1. Sound familiar? Out of necessity, she took a three minute shower. She confessed to me afterwards that she wasn’t certain she got all the soap out, but you have to start somewhere!
Has following the three-minute challenge inspired you to cut down your shower time? I’ve been surprised at how achievable the goal is. With just three days left until Earth Day, today is as good a day as any to start the challenge!
