Spring is here! And what better way to decorate your room than with fresh flowers from your local florist or supermarket?
I like to keep a succulent in my room, because not only do live plants brighten up the space, they also improve air circulation. If you’re anything like me, you may not have the greenest thumb out there, but you’re trying. My advice is to follow florists on social media for advice on how to care for your flowers and make them last longer. You can find a lot of florist tips for how to care for your flowers on TikTok, but there are some tips on Instagram, too. I follow annatheflorist on TikTok, mainstflorist on Instagram, and sherwood_florist on TikTok.
If you don’t know what types of flowers to get or where to start, I suggest choosing the floral arrangement that best matches your zodiac sign — I’ve done all the work for you, and put together a list of flowers that best match each of the signs. Some of these are your sign’s birth flower, which is just another category to give your sign meaning, but whichever one you choose, they’ll bring a lively presence to your space.
Aries: celosia
Celosia is the scientific name for this plant, which means “burning” in Greek. It has a flame-like head, representing your fiery attitude, Aries. It’s prickly looking petals represent your short fuse. Your birth flowers are honeysuckle and thistle, but this flower is the perfect imagery for the fire within your sign.
Taurus: tulips
Tulips — like you, Taurus — are colorful. You like beautiful things, and tulips are one of the most beautiful things in life. There aren’t many flowers that have a unique bulb shape and a wide range of colorful choices — ones that represent your colorful energy. Your real birth flowers are roses, the illegal poppy and the toxic foxglove, but tulips match your personality better than any other.
Gemini: lavender
This is one of your birth flowers, Gemini! Your other birth flower is the lily of the valley, and both are beautiful in their own way. Lavender has a strong smell, which represents your strong presence. Just like your sign of the twins, Lavender’s scent is a powerful presence, bringing attention and eyes to the plant. After a while, it’ll lose its scent, but will still receive quite a bit of attention regardless.
Cancer: lilies
I was given lilies once, and let me tell you, they were the most stunning flowers I’d ever received as a Cancer. Lilies, like us Cancers, take time to bloom, starting off as a closed-off flower and slowly opening a little more every day. Lilies are extremely charitable, giving off pollen for bees. Cancer’s birth flowers are white roses and orchids, but lilies are a better match for who you are.
Leo: sunflowers
Sunflowers are one of your birth flowers, Leo. Like your other birth flower, marigolds, sunflowers represent your bright personality. These flowers are constantly the center of attention as the flower that many people know and love. I could even argue that sunflowers could be the leader of all flowers, especially being the birth flower of a Leo.
Virgo: daisy
Although sharing the same birth flowers as Leo, Virgo is just a little different. Daisies are the absolute perfect flower in terms of shape and look. I mean those petals are a consistent circle, something that Virgos absolutely love. These flowers also symbolize innocence and purity, something Virgo’s symbol – the virgin – symbolizes. Decorating your room with these flowers will show off the innocence and purity you hide under your strive for perfection, Virgo.
Libra: rose
This is your one and only birth flower, Libra. Like you, roses are a perfect balance between happy and sad occasions. Red roses signify love, while black roses are often synonymous with death and mourning. Roses are that go-to flower you get for any event, knowing it’ll be the best choice no matter what.
Scorpio: hibiscus
Hibiscus is one of your birth flowers, Scorpio, as well as the geraniums. Hibiscus is one of my favorite flowers and it’s beauty is purely mysterious like you. The flower also symbolizes a delicate beauty which is exactly who you are, Scorpio. Your inner personality is a beauty to those close to you and on the outside you are delicate, treading carefully to make sure you don’t get hurt. This tropical flower is the perfect fit for all you are.
Sagittarius: carnations
Carnations are one of your birth flowers Sag, alongside crocuses. Carnations are almost like a rose, but you don’t look for love, Sag – carnations are the flower of adventure. This flower is a beautiful and strong flower and just like you, and you’ll get lost in the wonder of this simple beauty.
Capricorn: pansy
Your birth flower, Cap, is the pansy, which works hard to not be like any other. It has a plethora of colors and can come in light or dark shades. This flower, like you, is completely in control of what it needs to stand out from the crowd. Pansies symbolize thought, something you do a lot when it comes to decisions or learning Cap. Your intelligence shines through this flower, which makes it not only the perfect birth flower for representing you but the perfect decor to show off who you are.
Aquarius: orchid
You stand tall like your birth flower, the mighty orchid, Aquarius. You’re a sign that blooms, being a humanitarian at heart. With those good deeds comes growth. Orchids are flowers that start off as buds and then bloom into flowers with tall, confident stems. That is who you are Aquarius, and don’t forget it!
Pisces: baby’s breath
Your birth flower is the water lily, but we can’t put that flower in a bouquet, let alone a pot. So I chose baby’s breath for you, Pisces. This is because you’re a gentle water sign, touching the lives of all those you encounter. This flower also channels your inner romance as baby’s breath is responsible for the beauty of a bouquet. The flower is also light and gentle, as you are Pisces.
These are just some of the flowers that would be an absolute game changer to your space. All these flowers are unique, smell beautiful and don’t collect dust! While it does require work, there’s nothing better than the work you put into brightening and making your space lively. So go ahead and get some flowers from your local florist (because supporting small businesses is cool). Take a picture of your flowers beauty and if you feel like it, post them to social media for all your followers to see. We need positivity nowadays, and flowers can help bring exactly that.
