In Her Campus’ series Closet Check, we’re getting a look inside the closet of a college student and learning all about how they put together their favorite outfits. In this piece, we talk to Dominique Colbert, a senior at the University of Texas at Arlington who put together some amazing looks for Galentine’s Day and Valentine’s Day.

The Closet Check
Although I share my closet, I appreciate that I still have a lot of space to be able to organize my clothes in a way that works for me. I mainly use my dresser, since my side of the closet is mainly reserved for my dresses and jackets. It works out in terms of space. I love my closet, but I do wish it was a bit bigger so I could hang up more of my outfits to make my life a bit easier.
Creating The Fits
I usually check the weather either the night before or in the morning, since Texas can’t seem to make up her mind and stick with one season. After that, I’ll go to my dresser to grab my undergarments and then I’ll pick out my actual outfit for the day. I try to look put-together and color-coordinate a bit. I’ll usually match my top with my shoes or pants to give the appearance that I know what I’m doing.
What I’d Wear To: A Galentine’s Day Party
I’ve never been to a Galentine’s Day party, but if I did go to a party, this is what I would wear. I think this red top fits with the theme of love and appreciation, which pairs well with this white skirt and lace-up heels. I don’t have any other red accessories, so this silver ring set and necklace will have to do.
What I’d Wear On: A Valentine’s Day Date Night
I absolutely love Valentine’s Day, so this is what I would wear if I had a date this Valentine’s Day. I bought this stunning red dress last year that I unfortunately never got to wear. Again, I’m wearing my go-to silver ring set from Pandora and these lace-up white heels from my Galentine’s Day party outfit. I think this would be perfect to wear out to dinner, or maybe to go dance the night away.
What I’d Wear To: Class
This is a perfect example of what an everyday, going-to-class outfit looks like from my closet. I usually wear a pair of jeans (these are from Good American) with a comfortable top that I get from either online shopping or my local Ross. I absolutely love my white platform Converse, since they go with nearly everything. I can’t leave the house without my favorite ring set that I got recently from Pandora.
What I’d Wear To: An Internship Interview
Whenever I have an interview, I also try to go for a pretty casual-yet-professional look. I usually wear a black shawl with black leggings and a black bodysuit. Nowadays, I try to wear these tan pants with a black bodysuit to seem more professional. I do have a matching jacket that goes with the pants, but since it’s a bit oversized I usually opt not to wear it during the interview. I paired this outfit with a pair of black heels from the thrift store. They’re close-toed with little bows on the front, but since these pants cover my toes, I think I can get away with wearing them.
