As much as collegiettes love shopping, bra shopping usually doesn’t top the list of things we love to shop for.  Between overwhelming department stores, awkward salesladies, and way too many confusing choices, bra shopping can be downright aggravating.  Plus, it can be hard to tell if the bra you’re wearing is actually the right size and style for your particular body shape.

That’s where new service True&Co. comes in.  True&Co. reinvents the way women buy intimates with their custom fit-based approach to online bra retail.  I was lucky enough to get to try out the service for myself (and loved it!), and here’s how it works:

First, you take trueandco.com’s 2-minute online quiz that asks things like the size bra you currently wear, how the straps fit, how the band fits, common problems you have with your bra, and more.  For me, I often find that my bra straps slip off my shoulders or that I’m coming out the top of the cups.

Next, True&Co. creates a custom bra shop for you that takes all of these factors into account, putting together a curated selection of bras in the sizes and styles that it thinks will fit you best based on its algorithms.  My shop showed mostly bras in the size I currently wear, plus some that were a band size smaller and a cup size bigger (maybe this would solve the slipping straps and coming-out-of-the-cups issues).

Then, you pick which bras you want True&Co. to send you to try on at home.  They recommend trying on 5 bras—you pick 3 of them, and their fit experts pick 2 more (which are a surprise until you receive them), and these bras get shipped to you at home, with just a $45 deposit down.  I picked a combination of full coverage bras that looked like they wouldn’t create any bumps under a tight shirt, and some pretty, lacy ones.

You then try on the bras in the comfort of your own home (hello, no awkward salesladies) in the next 7 days after you receive them.  Then you go to trueandco.com and record which ones you want to keep and which ones you don’t, and they give you a free shipping label to send back your returns free of charge, and your credit card is charged for the ones you want to keep (if they cost more than the $45 deposit).  In my try-on box, 2 out of the 5 bras fit great and I decided to keep them!  One of them was one that I had picked (a full coverage one), and one of them was one the expert had picked for me (a lacy one).  I ended up sticking with my usual bra size, but these styles are definitely cut in a way that fits me better than the bras I had before (I’m wearing one of my new ones right now!).

All in all, I had a super easy, smooth and enjoyable experience trying out True&Co. and would definitely recommend it!
