Your Guide To A Long-Lasting Homecoming Look

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

It’s almost that special time of the semester when we can prepare for our beloved annual fall college activities like game day, the first girls’ night out – and of course – homecoming.

Even though these events are *technically* in the fall, that doesn’t mean it necessarily feels like fall, especially with the summer heat still lingering. So, to ensure that your iconic makeup look lasts throughout the whole night and doesn’t smudge or melt, you definitely need to add the same products from Ulta Beauty that I use to your trusty homecoming beauty bag.

Moisturizer with SPF

When aiming for a long-lasting makeup look, I find that having hydrated skin is absolutely crucial, so I always try to begin my routine by prepping my skin with a moisturizer. And, because homecoming events often take place outdoors, starting with a moisturizer that also has SPF is essential. I recommend choosing a lotion that has a no-white-cast formula to help lay the groundwork for the perfect base.

Primer

My next tip for long-lasting makeup is to use a primer that grips your makeup and leaves you with a healthy glow after application. I usually go for a primer that works on every skin type – and, since I’m always on makeup duty during homecoming – having a primer that covers all skin types (from oily, to combination, to dry!) is super helpful and leaves my besties and I with a strong base that continues to last. Just remember to wait a few minutes for your primer to dry before applying your foundation!

Foundation

Having a good foundation is super helpful in keeping your makeup looking perfect! When I’m looking for a new foundation, I always make sure to choose one that has a wide shade range, is hydrating and reliable, and allows for buildable coverage.

Setting Spray and Setting Powder

Another game-changing tip to make your makeup last even longer is to spray your face with setting spray before applying each product. Personally, I believe setting sprays are the secret to long-lasting makeup, as it helps keep everything in place and prevents any smudging throughout the day. When you’re done with your final look, I recommend adding a setting powder to really lock it in!

Concealer

With so many exciting activities and events during homecoming week, it’s super easy to lose sleep since you’re too busy having fun! But thankfully, with good concealer, you can cover the bags under your eyes, as well as any other blemish. As someone who battles dark under-eye circles, I can attest to how important it is to get a creamy concealer that has bendability and is moisturizing. And, if you want a sleek finish, let the concealer dry before adding bronzer and blush.

Bronzer and Blush

Did you know that if you use a cream bronzer and a cream blush and then follow it up with a powder bronzer and a powder brush tha tit makes your makeup last even longer? I learned this from my dance teacher, who helped my makeup last all day – even while I was dancing up on stage – so it’ll definitely help while *you’re* dancing at homecoming! It’s the perfect combo to ensure your makeup stays put, no matter the occasion.
