Macy’s has decided to include the Verona Collection, an Islamic conservative clothing line, in their offerings this past week, Cosmopolitan reports. This is a major step in the right direction, as the lack of inclusivity in the fashion industry is an issue that’s just starting to be addressed. From launches like Anniesa Husiban’s hijab-friendly styles gracing the NYFW 2017 runway to Christian Siriano’s body-positive designs, brands and designers are slowly catering to women and men of all sizes, shapes and backgrounds. And now, Macy’s is expanding their line to cater to Muslim women as well.Â
In a press release, founder Lisa Vogl said, “Verona Collection is more than a clothing brand. It’s a platform for a community of women to express their personal identity and embrace fashion that makes them feel confident on the inside and outside. Macy’s has been an amazing partner, helping us strengthen the foundation of our business through The Workshop at Macy’s and now introducing our brand to their consumers through this collaboration.”
The collection will include hijabs, maxi dresses, sweaters and much, much more.
The Verona Collection’s website goes even further to explain Vogl’s motivation behind the line, saying, “After embracing Islam, she had a stark realization: modest and fashionable clothing were both hard to acquire and difficult to afford. After doing a bit of research, she realized that many other women, both Muslim and non-Muslim, felt the same way.”
And just take a look at how much it slays!
The collection, ranging from $13 to $85, will be available on February 15 (international shipping included).
