“What is an office siren? Do you mean… a woman wearing glasses?” asks beauty influencer Cassandra Jerome in a viral TikTok. In that case, I am an office siren literally everyday. The office siren aesthetic is popping up on TikTok For You pages, but is receiving some mixed reviews. Some people think the trend is gorgeous and a fun way to up your style game at work. Others? Not so much.
In short, the office siren aesthetic is for the office-working girls, and is all about sleek and classy business professional outfits, with a ‘90s and Y2K twist. Beauty influencer Dèja Zhanè described the office siren as a reiteration of the “corporate baddie” or “hot chick in the office.” Even online publications like Elite Daily and Byrdie have picked up on the popularity of the trend.
From what I’ve seen on TikTok, office siren involves form-fitting business clothes, heels, and Bayonetta glasses. Long and tight dresses, pencil skirts, fitted blazers, black turtlenecks, and button-up blouses are at the core of this aesthetic. Think Devil Wears Prada. Neutral colors like gray, beige, white, and black are a must to be an official office siren. As for makeup, it’s super dramatic. Any look with heavy black liner, a smokey eye, thin eyebrows, and a statement lip is office siren-certified.
Some people think this trend shouldn’t be labeled as anything, and is literally just how people get ready for work. One user under Jerome’s office siren makeup TikTok wrote, “OFFICE SIREN IS KILLING ME,” which got almost 40,000 likes. Another wrote “OFFICE SIREN PLEASEE, ITS GLASSES WITH MAKEUP.” The comment “OFFICE SIREN BYEE” got over 11,000 likes.
However, others are willing to give the office siren makeup some praise. Users commented on @giorginajuanita’s TikTok about the trend, sharing their love for the office siren makeup style. One wrote, “This has completely won me over,” and another wrote “Omg it’s flawless.”
As for the office siren glasses trend, some people aren’t happy. TikToker @sadqn1 posted a video expressing how frustrated she was that she was made fun of for her prescription Bayonetta glasses in the past that she needed to see clearly, only for those same glasses to be trending now. Users on the video wrote, “I HATE THE TERM OFFICE SIREN,” and “I felt this in my soul!! Like PLEASE, we are blind fr.”
Others are in support of the office siren fashion aesthetic. TikToker Julia Quang made a video showing off her office siren clothing haul and was met with lots of support. “I love that office siren is catching on,” one user wrote, with another writing “Now I want an office job just to play dress up.”
Personally, I think the office siren aesthetic is a fun way to motivate yourself to get ready for work. Since I already wear glasses, I’m halfway there. What are your thoughts on the aesthetic? Is it legit, or is it literally just workwear with dramatic makeup?
