Hot girl summer is coming to a close, but don’t worry, we’re continuing that energy into hot girl fall. In terms of degrees, though, it will be getting chillier, and I need some good transition outfits for back to school.
Whether it’s breezy outside or freezing in your lecture hall, the members of Her Campus’s InfluenceHer Collective have got you covered with an array of cardigans, hats and overalls. Scroll on for the perfect summer-fall transition fit.
Fringe 4 Fall
This sweater/skirt combo is so chic, and I love the playfulness of the fringe. This look brings just enough color to feel summery, but the sweater will keep you nice and warm for the fall weather.
Just Add Denim
This look is one of the easiest ways to make a summer outfit a fall outfit. Take your favorite summer jumpsuit and add a denim jacket as an extra layer and boom, done.
Overall the Rest
This is definitely one of my favorite transition looks. Layering a long sleeve underneath your favorite summer dress is a great way to transition it to fall, but I love that this one is an overall dress.
Layer It
I would never think to layer a cardigan over a denim jumpsuit, but I love this look. If you don’t have a romper like this one, don’t worry. You can recreate the look by wearing a denim top and jeans and layering a cardigan over those.
Business Casual
To me, blazers scream fall, but they can get really hot (especially on those hot September afternoons). You can keep yourself cool by wearing the blazer with shorts and sneakers, and don’t forget a cute bag to go with!
Keep Summer Accessories
This look is super cute, but it’s really tied together (no pun intended) by the corset, which matches the jeans and the stripes on the shirt. To keep your look feeling summery, add a woven bag like the one above.
Back to Black
If colors aren’t your thing, stick to one. This all-black fit is such a cool look for fall, but a tank top and skirt will actually keep you cool if you get too hot. You can dress this look up with some silver jewelry for a little extra sparkle.
The Ultimate Transition Piece
This maxi dress has got me feeling summer, but the hat is telling me fall. This is a perfect transition piece, and it’s an outfit in one. The maxi dress is breezy enough to keep you cool, but the long sleeves will warm you up once it gets chillier.
I’m so excited for the new season, especially now that I have all this outfit inspo. I’m definitely keeping my eye out for a fringe skirt and a floral maxi dress. How will you style your transition pieces?
