After wrapping up a super successful, super southern show in Auburn, Alabama, the Her Campus team headed over to the west coast for College Fashion Week Stop #3: San Diego! I started my trip in LA – which was fab. I stayed with my bestie Kristina and got to host an event with Merck for our Plan it Forward campaign at UCLA!
I met Chelsea in LA (she was staying with her sister who is a sophomore at USC) and we rented a bright red Mustang convertible (obvi) for the drive to San Diego. It was my first time in San Diego and I must say – it definitely lived up to its reputation. The drive was GORGEOUS! We stopped several times along the way to revel in our tourist-y-ness and pose for some roadside pics.
We hosted College Fashion Week at FIDM’s San Diego Campus right downtown. The campus was so beautiful! It was located in a high rise and had a balcony that overlooked the ballpark for the San Diego Padres (which was beautiful even though I literally know nothing about the Padres). The space was architecturally stunning with lots of bright colors and walls and walls of glass. It was really interesting to spend time in a college dedicated to fashion, merchandising and design! It kind of made me want to go to back to school!
For the event we partnered with StyleSeek, an awesome shopping site that curates amazing looks based on your personal style profile! Brian Hawkins, Co-Founder of StyleSeek, is also a professor at FIDM, hence the location for the event. Brian and his team of CFW Interns from FIDM were such a help as we planned the event – I don’t know what we would have done without them.
As we styled the show, we went with a very boho, very SoCal style sensibility and made sure to feature lots of high-waisted vintage denim and lots of leather. Our partners for the event included Samsonite, Poppin, Neuro, Gang Kitchen, UsTrendy, Category 5 BoatShoes, adidas, nubry, Covergirl, OUTSPOKKEN, Bongo, Armed & Readi, Henri Girl, BCBGeneration, Material Girl, Rampage, OP, and Candies.
I had a fantastic time emceeing the show and working with our local DJ and event coordinator. Here are some of my favorite pics from the night:
Stay tuned for my updates on our fourth and final show – College Fashion Week Boston!
