I have been needing a haircut for a really long time. So when Mitchell John Salon reached out to me about coming in to review the salon, I jumped at the opportunity.
Mitchell John Salon is located at 67 Broad Street in Boston, MA. I went into the experience not really knowing what to expect.
What I found was a really fun salon atmosphere with a futuristic vibe (see the round mirrors in the video that I shot below). I got my hair cut and styled by Mitch himself. Mitch cut exclusively using a razor which was really interesting. It gave my hair a certain lightness that I really liked. When he was done with the cut (which was expertly executed btw), he asked me how I would like it styled.
99% of the time I’m a straight or wavy-haired girl so I decided to go with something different and have Mitch style it in a curly fashion.
Before my haircut, my hair was washed with the Living proof frizz conditioner. Something I learned at the salon that I thought was really interesting was that the Living proof products (sold at national distributers like Sephora) are actually all the brain child of Mitchell John Salon. Together with a team of research scientists at MIT, they formulated a proprietary anti frizz molecule that allows them to produce silicone-free hair products.
My hair was styled using the frizz styling cream and the full thickening mousse, both by Living proof.
Even though the hair style that we wound up with wasn’t something that I
would normally ever wear, I had fun wearing it to the Her Campus holiday party!
For those of you collegiettes(TM) in Boston, if you mention HerCampus.com when you book your appointment at Mitchell John Salon, you can get 20% off of your first appointment!
Another really interesting thing about Mitchell John Salon is that they’ve got an innovative point reward system. Points are earned for every service you receive. For example, they add in 300 points for booking your next appointment before you leave the salon. These points translate into dollars redeemable for products!
Below is a fun video that I made of my experience!
