Your Ultimate Guide to Fall 2015’s Biggest Trends

It’s an undisputable fact that fall fashion is the best fashion season of them all—no question. With sweater weather fast approaching, it’s time to ditch the sundresses and welcome boots, cozy sweaters and scarves into your mix. Want a sneak peek at the trends that are bound to show up on your campus this fall? Last Saturday, at College Fashion Week, the biggest college fashion event of the year, in between checking out the awesome FIAT 500x Crossover out front, devouring Shake Shack custard and decorating our nails at Jamberry’s DIY Nail Art bar, we took a few notes on the season’s top style trends.

1. Feminine minimalist

Perhaps our favorite trend, feminine minimalism is all about gorgeous blush tones, luxe fabrics and sleek, refined accessories. At College Fashion Week, co-emcee Christina Decker, the assistant editor of StyleWatch, noted that this trend as been popping up on the New York, Milan, London and Paris runways! Girly has never been so chic. These fab looks are all from Lord and Taylor from the South Shore Plaza, courtesy of Simon, our official fashion sponsor! Want to try the trend yourself? Look for pale pinks and pair with other muted tones like gray and white. Try a statement necklace and play around with texture, like faux fur-topped vest or suede booties.

2. The 70s

If you love bohemian looks, this next trend is a natural progression from your usual attire. The 70s are back and cooler than ever. This free-loving style is in full swing this season as the runway gets a retro revival with flares, fringe and suede to suit. From saddlebags to faux fur and florals, the haute hippie sensation is taking over fall fashion. Bring this style to campus: keep it subtle with flared jeans or a paisley shift dress—or go all out with fringe. We love this look paired with braided hair and waves; the hairstyles above were created for us by the fabulous Pyara Salon & Spa. Waves are here to stay and they’re dressed up with braided details. From fishtails to crown braids, we’re seeing hair unwound to an effortlessly messy perfection. The Pyara stylists worked their magic using Aveda products like Pure Abundance™ Hair Potion and Control Force-Firm Hold Hair Spray. These looks can be found at Bloomingdales Outlet at Wrentham Premium Outlets, courtesy of Simon, our official fashion sponsor.

3. Menswear

This fall, up your business casual with menswear influences. In structured styles and sleek cuts, this fall trend show us that girls really do do it better. A clean cat eye and a red lip, courtesy of Milani Cosmetics, added an elegant flair to these looks, which were from L.K. Bennett at Copley Place, courtesy of Simon. This trend is so easy to duplicate: Try a structured blazer, a straight pant and a sophisticated bag to pull it all together.

4. Modern Punk

Leather, plaid and studs are teaming up to give punk a chic modern twist this fall. Watch as bold attitude gets redefined by leather wristlets, statement metals and leopard prints. These CFW models’ plaid and killer brows mean business. European Wax Center prepped each girl’s brows to total bold, beautiful status (browfection, dare we say?) with their Brow Powder and Shape It products. These looks were from Saks Off Fifth at Wrentham Premium Outlets, courtesy of Simon, our official fashion sponsor.

Want to see the trends for yourself? College Fashion Week is traveling to New York City (10/10), Washington, D.C. (10/17) and Atlanta (10/24) so register to attend now! Don’t miss the fashion event of the year!
